The goal of the Social Media Manager is to engage consumers and scale Stumptown's reach and growth by strategically ideating, creating, and deployingcompelling content across owned social media channels. Areas of responsibility include: social strategy, daily content creation, DM management, earned and owned media relationship building, influencer marketing, social campaign activation, and local and national event support. Stumptown has a dedicated and passionate fan base, and this role is integral in continuing to nurture and develop our valued relationships with our customers, the press, and the public.

You bring hands-on expertise across media channels (having run social accounts for a medium to large brand). You understand the unique nuance of content strategy for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok, and have a strong POV on how Reddit, YouTube, Pinterest, and LinkedIn fit into the mix.

Objectives of this role

    • Define, design, and drive Stumptown's social media position, strategy, and execution
    • Grow our presence, engagement, relevance, and responsiveness across social media channels
    • Develop an influencer marketing program to increase reach and impact, while ensuring marketing partners are in alignment with our brand values and ethos
    • Develop key relationships with press, increasing relevant press and earned media mentions significantly in 2022 and beyond
    • Identify and enhance the impact of physical activations, from small, cafe-specific pop ups to large-scale, annual events

Daily & Monthly Responsibilties

    • Ideate, organize, and coordinate monthly media calendars
    • Shoot and edit photos and video, write copy, and create social story layouts
    • Schedule and post content across Stumptown's social media channels daily
    • Engage customers in both reactive and proactive conversation (including customer service inquiries) in comments and DMs
    • Report on key metrics and efficacy of efforts, making recommendations of which initiatives to start, stop, and improve
    • Plan and support cafe events, activations, and events by identifying, assembling, and coordinating requirements, establishing contacts, and developing schedules and assignments

Skills and Qualifications

    • A strong portfolio of social content you've personally created and/or produced
    • Photography, videography, editing, design, and copywriting experience
    • 3+ years experience as a social media manager at a mid to large sized brand
    • Bachelor's degree in marketing, PR, or communications (or 3-4 years equivalent marketing experience in lieu of degree)
    • Witty copywriting skills for social captions and customer engagement
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Familiarity with project management systems (e.g., Monday, Asana) and social media planning platforms (e.g., Later, Hootsuite, Buffer)
    • Proven track record to work collaboratively across an organization
    • Experience working with an elevated food, fashion, or craft brand a plus

Physical Demands

    • Ability to sit continuously at a computer.
    • Carry weight / lift up to 5 pounds frequently and up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Work Environment

    • Work typically takes place in a blended office environment (50% onsite at HQ and 50% remote) and occasionally at marketing or industry events
    • Some travel may be required (20-30%)
    • Occasional nights/weekends may be required
