Family Resource Specialist

Essential Roles and Responsibilities


  • Gather and understand current and past psychosocial factors and connections
  • Use assessment tools to provide comprehensive information for a treatment plan
  • Assess risk factors related to safety and well-being of all family members

Facilitation of Change

  • Teach a variety of life skills to parents at high risk for Child Abuse/ Neglect due to environment or history of family violence
  • Teach behavior management, goal setting, child development, stress and anger management, and setting limits
  • Teach Parenting classes as requested: may include general parenting classes and/or truancy intervention and prevention classes
  • Knowledgeable of community resources and make appropriate referrals

Treatment Plan/ISP Development

  • Collaborate with team members including family, youth and stakeholders to participate in treatment team meetings for the purpose of creating treatment plans/ISP
  • Collaborate with the therapist to maintain the case file, maintain regular contact with the referral source and other partners
  • Testify in court, as requested

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Comply with Pressley Ridge policies and program standards
  • Exemplify the values of the program service model
  • Complete all required paperwork meeting established timeframes
  • Produce billable units that will meet the program's requirements
  • Maintain flexibility and creativity in working a non-traditional schedule to accommodate the needs of children and families

Working Conditions

  • Physical Demands. Requires vision, speech, and hearing. Position allows employee to move about freely or sit at will when performing job duties.
  • Environmental Factors. Office, school, home, community
  • Working Hours are flexible 40 hours per week with two evenings per week.
EducationHigh School (required)
Bachelors of Human Services (preferred)
ExperienceBachelor's Degree in human services field preferred OR High School Diploma with 4 years related experience (preferred)
2 years: Supervised experience with children and/or families (preferred)
