Therapist (Parents And Children Together, PACT)

From behavioral health and foster care services to residential treatment facilities and education for children with special needs, including autism and deafness, Pressley Ridge empowers nearly 8,000 kids and families each year with the ability and confidence to succeed.

As one of the 2019 Pittsburgh Post Gazette's Top Work Places, we invite you to join our Parents and Children Together (PACT) Program. Our therapists receive high quality supervision, training, and professional development. Pressley Ridge offers assistance with licensure supervision and other individual career and education goals.

1. Structure services consistent with PACT Standards:

a. Serve an average of 18-22 families per year.
b. Travel to client homes and other locations.
c. Meet with families 1-2 times a week, approximately 2-4 hours per week, over a 90 day period.
d. Maintain a flexible workweek, scheduling sessions at times that are convenient for families, and when problems are likely to occur, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
e. Be available to client families 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. Carry a cell phone or pager for 24/7 availability. Arrange coverage when unavailable.
f. Accept referrals 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. Complete client intake sessions within 24 hours of referral. Confirm client eligibility for service within 72 hours of intake.
g. Provide back-up and support for other therapists as needed.

2. Conduct clinical interventions consistent with the PACT Intervention Components:

a. Assess safety, structure the environment and use clinical strategies designed to promote safety. Follow program guidelines and mandatory reporting statues when responding to safety concerns.
b. Conduct client-interactive, comprehensive, strength and behavior-focused assessments.
c. Collaborate with family members and referents in developing intervention goals and service plans directly related to the risk of out-of-home placement. Monitor progress, analyze barriers to goal achievement, and help families revise goals or plans as needed.
d. Utilize motivation enhancement strategies to increase client motivation to change.
e. Provide a range of clinical, concrete and advocacy services to family members that are consistent with the PACT model and tailored to each family's values, learning styles, lifestyle, circumstances and culture.
f. Utilize research-based cognitive and behavioral strategies to facilitate behavior change.
g. Utilize a variety of teaching methods to help families acquire, maintain and generalize skills.
h. Collaborate and advocate with formal and informal community resources and systems, while teaching family members to advocate for themselves.
i. Advocate for and provide concrete goods and services (including transportation) that are directly related to the family's goals, while teaching family members to meet these needs on their own.

j. Assess goal attainment and plan for maintenance of progress with family

3. Participate in quality enhancement components of the PACT model:
a. Follow guidelines regarding consulting with supervisor.
b. Prepare for and actively participate in weekly team consultation meetings.
c. Participate in all required therapist training.
d. Participate in quality enhancement activities with supervisor and PACT consultant (home visit observations, file reviews, model fidelity monitoring, consultation, etc.).
e. Review performance data to identify needed areas for improvement.
f. Work with supervisor to complete professional development plans and performance reviews.
g. Work with supervisor and PACT consultant to implement quality enhancement or quality improvement plans.

4. Administrative and Organizational Responsibilities:
a. Complete and submit all clinical and agency paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
b. Utilize IFD's online data management system for all clinical documentation.
c. Comply with all contract requirements.
d. Submit all required personnel documents, as directed.
e. Represent the agency in community meetings and on interagency teams as directed.
f. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, referring agency staff and other community professionals.

Working Conditions

1. Physical Demands. Requires vision, speech, and hearing. Position allows employee to move about freely or sit at will when performing job duties.

2. Environmental Factors. Requires extensive travel to client homes and throughout the community. Work is performed primarily in client homes, where conditions may include tobacco smoke, domestic animals, household pests, mold and other allergens, and other conditions common to domestic environments.

3. Working Hours. Non-traditional hours as determined by the program.

EducationMasters of Human Services (preferred)
Bachelors of Human Services (required)
Experience1 years: Experience working with children and/or adults and families (required)
