What does the team do?

The Team is responsible for underwriting credit applications with exposures greater than £150,000 ensuring adherence to the Bank's Risk Appetite and relevant Lending Policy and Standards.

What are the key ?responsibilities

The role will appraise and sanction new business proposals for IAF's asset finance and specialist lending across a range of assets/sectors with the proposals emanating from a wide number of business areas, including:
Receivables and Wholesale Funding(including Block Funding)
Sustainable Energy
Quantum Limited (near prime)
Channel Islands offshore funding
Material Handling (Logistics)

The transactions are introduced via AFG's third party introducers or direct sales force.

Primary responsibilities will also include initial assessment and due diligence of proposals, preparation of credit papers and their approval either under personal discretion or via presentation to the relevant Investec credit committee.

Other duties
Membership of IAF Credit Committee

Completion of the annual review of:
Individual credit exposures that are >£1m for which there is new financial information available.
All AFG portfolios including the analysis of underlying portfolio trends and seeking required portfolio credit limits for the following 12 months via IBP Risk.
Aiding AFG Collections Team in the management of high-balance default cases.
Ad hoc due diligence processes eg: business and portfolio acquisitions, and
Quarterly Portfolio & Sectoral Reviews, Impairment Committee Meetings and other relevant governance forums

What else is the role holder expected to do?
Undertake relevant client, supplier and broker visits on a regular basis to ensure that the role holder and the wider Team keep up to speed with market developments and also support Investec's market presence and profile
Ensure strong lines of communication with all areas of the business are maintained(in particular relevant Sales Teams, Collections and IBP Risk)
Assist in the training and development other team members
Foster a culture of continuous risk improvement across the business and act as a strong ambassador of AFG Credit.

What core skills and knowledge do we need?
Regulatory knowledge as applicable to role (compulsory)

Proven experience of Asset Finance underwriting with relevant experience in the middle or large ticket arena or with the potential to do so in the immediate term
Demonstrate a clear understanding of the AFG portfolio and its broad range of assets, sectors and products.
Proven ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders always exhibiting a positive and balanced approach and consistently providing a compelling customer experience
Highly numerate with the ability to analyse complex financial statements.
Strong team and interpersonal skills with a desire to provide support to colleagues
Effective influencing skills
