Location - UK Wide - Flexible as Home Based with Travel
Salary up to £95,000 p.a. + Car + Bonus + Extensive Benefits

Can you lead the commercial function for this £30M plus TO global business whose customer base includes some truly blue-chip companies on an international basis? Can you be the leader of a small but strong team of commercial experts and grow and develop them into a world class team while supporting the business lead to ambitiously grow the organisation on a truly global basis?
The Head of Commercial will provide a specific commercial and business focus, working to ensure that business is best positioned to maximise revenues and profits (gross and operation margin), and to capitalise on current and future market opportunities as the business drives to triple its TO and profitability over the next 3 years. You will be responsible for the financial management of a major, complex projects from inception, tendering, negotiating, and agreeing on contracts and then commercially delivering projects often worth tens of millions of pounds. You will be an integral part of the senior leadership team where you will hold key responsibilities associated with the commercial and financial success of each project. The role will include the following duties;

Manage the major business accounts to ensure robustness and accuracy and manage the end to end commercial process.
Responsible for the analysis of both current and potential markets to understand market size, market share, competition, strategic advantage, strategic awareness and market opportunity and risk.
Lead responses to tender activities with a value of £80-100m+ per year and all customer contractual negotiations ensuring that pricing is in line with licence and regulatory obligations.
Actively working with internal customers to ensure accurate cost proposals and timely variance in line with appropriate governance with a value of up to £100m.
Work with legal to ensure all customer contracts are robust and compliant, and there are strategic opportunities to grow revenue with contracted customers.
Lead all external customer interfaces and internal relationships to increase revenue and profit growth for the business unit.
Provide commercial support to operational colleagues, provide weekly profit and loss data inclusive of early warnings and compensation events both internally and externally.
Lead, develop and grow the commercial team of circa 8 people and develop an inclusive culture that facilitates recruitment, development, progression and retention of high-calibre people and be a member of the leadership team.
Accountable for all external supplier contracts and spend including; Coordinating the procurement of goods and services including coordination of involvement in tender events, Identifying opportunities to reduce spend and increase value, accountability for the management of the key supply chain, review and develop operational processes to improve performance and maximise growth and stay aware of the latest trends and developments and represent the company at industry events.

As a proven commercial leader you will have developed skills in client liaison and team leadership with a track record of managing and developing a commercial team whilst demonstrating strong leadership skills. You will have strong mix of the following skills and experience;

Experience within a highly regulated environment such as; Utilities, Renewables, Oil & Gas, Nuclear or Aerospace.

Top level interpersonal skills with a proven ability to deliver successful outcomes through dispersed teams and communicate complex commercial concepts to audiences with varying levels of commercial apprehension, both verbally and visually.

With strong commercial acumen (including operational and financial planning), you will have extensive commercial experience working within a commercially focused, construction business. It is also essential that you have experience in project management and have a track record of delivering successful results and finding pragmatic solutions in complex commercial situations.
Working in an agile and pragmatic way, you will be accustomed to delivering standardised outcomes in a highly dynamic environment. You will be a strategic thinker with an ability to take into account a multitude of influences when making decisions and recommendations.
Extensive experience of writing business cases and strategy papers and a good understanding of accounting practices and analysis tools.
An appropriate level of experience in a senior commercial/financial role and preferably experience working internationally would be highly advantageous.
Contractual and risk management experience.
Process and progress-driven, based on factual analytics, combined with very transparent skills of simple financial reflexes.
Excellent organisational skills and ability to respect deadlines with experience in change management.
Proven competence in interpreting and translating complex legal documents into operational delivery.
