The role

As a business analyst, you will join a growing team that contribute to the digital delivery portfolio within Arup. Our technology projects underpin Arup's digital strategy, which is focused on data, products and automation. You will work with stakeholders and users across the organisation to identify opportunities, articulate and prioritise business needs, and propose or design deliverable solutions that help make the strategy a reality. We are not looking for someone to purely gather requirements or write up processes - the role is an opportunity to shape and contribute to our digital transformation.

The role can be based out of any of Arup's Regional UK Offices or our Madrid Office and will be part of a geographically distributed team of 8, reporting into the lead business analyst based in London.

Responsibilities of the role include:
Consult with stakeholders to collaboratively articulate needs and identify opportunities
Facilitate, problem-solve and negotiate to agree requirements across diverse cross-functional stakeholder groups
Design and validate user journeys to ensure quality outcomes
Formulate alternate solutions to business problems and support feasibility assessments
Support product management of software products through the product delivery lifecycle
Work closely with developers, quality assurance, business change and support teams to ensure product quality, and support effective business change and benefits realisation
Drive continuous improvement and work for the overall success of the team and the firm

Requirements and skills

Essential skills and knowledge :
Experience of having worked on value-creating projects with tangible results and stakeholder satisfaction
Able to illustrate the value of business analysis when engaging with stakeholders
Experience of using a range of business analysis techniques in software product development, data or automation projects
Experience working with different delivery methodologies, with a focus on agile and iterative value creation in a user-centred design environment
Experience working with diverse teams across several global locations, time zones or cultural backgrounds

Desirable experience:
Several years of experience in the Architecture, Engineering & Construction sector, or the technology department of a large global organisation, ideally as a business analyst (or similar) delivering digital technology projects
Experience with user experience design and information architecture
Familiarity with data, analytics, business intelligence, data science, metrics or KPIs

Several members of our team have transferred into business analysis from roles outside of technology, or from project / scrum management, business architecture, or from other professions with analytical or collaborative backgrounds.
