An exciting opportunity has arisen to join their Finance Team on a full-time permanent basis.

Commercial Finance Manager


* Providing both financial leadership and sound judgement in the formulation of strategic initiatives to strengthen and grow the business in line with the 5-year strategy.

* Providing key financial guidance and insight to the commercial team, you must bring a wider strategic and commercial acumen thus helping the team make informed, added value decisions.

* Challenging and influencing the commercial teams on customer and brand volume and margin assumptions.

* Developing and driving the brand and promotional strategies within the retailers

* Challenging and developing the current process and methodologies and pushing for continuous improvement

* Ensuring all data is accurately captured in the relevant systems and on a timely basis

* Responsible for the delivery of the account profitability in collaboration with the senior commercial team

* Supporting the Finance Controller & Head of Finance in the development of the Finance and IBP functions

* Providing guidance, coach and mentoring analysts in the team to be the future CFM’s of the business.


* Deeply understand business challenges, talk their language and ‘have a view’

* Being able to interact with non-financial business partners is key i.e. Sales, Marketing, Operations etc interpreting complicated commercial positions/situations in clear articulate ways.

* Can ensure base data is provided on time and accurately.


* Qualified Accountant, ideally with commercial experience.

* Excellent communication skills, the ability to influence and build relationships

* Possess well-developed analytical skills combined with the ability to present detailed information clearly and succinctly to Senior Management

* Capable of working and delivering results under time pressure

* Be commercially aware and possess strong numerical skills with a keen desire to question and challenge information to ensure high reliability

* Be aware of the importance of internal controls/committed to improving controls. Able to explain numbers in the context of changes in the environment.

* Ability to work well in a team environment and with people from a variety of disciplines and seniority. Also able of working on own initiative with a minimum of supervision

* Advanced Excel skills would be a necessity including Lookup tables, ‘if’ statements, graph manipulation


Collaboratively working on ad-hoc analysis and decision support for the business to enable it to cope with market changes, for example, business plans, customer incentive schemes as well as assessing the pricing structure of the ongoing business

To recommend and challenge changes to the annual terms offered to customers, which encourages growth and increased profitability in the account

Provide financial direction and support to ensure the business grows in line with the 5-year strategy

Supporting the finance team in presenting timely and accurate information to other areas of the business

Help coach, train and motivate the team to ensure that their work is varied and relevant to aid their development

Developing controls and procedures to ensure that all key issues are identified, communicated and captured in all the appropriate systems

Understanding and interpreting the weekly, monthly and annual performance on accounts in collaboration with the commercial team.

Ensure that all promotional activity in the accounts is justified, either financially or commercially, and is aligned with brand strategies

Provide cover for line manager
