Full-time, permanent | Home based contract | £55-65k + 10% bonus and benefits

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented Azure DevOps Engineer to join a leading consultancy specialising in large-scale digital transformation projects within the public sector.

The Azure DevOps Engineer will join a small, friendly team working on an ongoing project within a central government department. The project is currently running 100% remotely, potentially moving to 1 day per month on-site in Coventry (fully expensed) over the next 12-18 months.

You will join 3 existing DevOps Engineers, who you will help to support live service, manage weekly releases and system improvements.

Role & Responsibilities:

Provide DevOps support to ensure service continuity and to meet the technical demands of the live services.
Lead Cloud engineering efforts in building and running an Azure IaaS and PaaS Identity and Access Management (IDAM) Solution
Collaborate and work with the technical lead for deployment Management Services for the continuous integration and continuous delivery/deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for Azure Services using
Support and update automated deployments using PowerShell, Azure DevOps Classic and YAML pipelines.
Lead on CI/CD release management across all environments (Dev, Test, Int, Pre-Prod, Prod)
Lead on Infrastructure Management Services including (build and support) on:
Platform Management Services for Azure
Server Management Services for Azure
Network Management Services for Azure Network Services

Deploy and support PostgreSQL and MS SQL databases including backups and replication.
Deploy and configure Azure micro-services using ARM (Azure Resource Manager Templates).
Build docker containers to run Nodejs applications.
Manage Grafana Dashboards in Azure
Manage support for Barracuda Web Application Firewalls;
Manage support for Open-Source Technologies on Azure.
Maintain security and compliance reports and monitoring across all Azure subscriptions.
Support Service management Services, including Incident and Change Management
Respond to notified issues or Track pipeline Issues with deployment pipelines and fixes for the development team – in line with the clients standard SLA’s.
Provide support during the development lifecycle to include the development and testing of environment configuration, including Technical Spikes; assist the development team with debugging and troubleshooting of platform level problems.
Help ensure DevOps Jira tickets are written in a way that the Service Manager and Product Manager find clear, easy to understand and have detailed acceptance criteria.

Skills & Experience:

Hands-on experience Microsoft Azure cloud
Knowledge of Identity and Access Management technologies and concepts based on OpenID Connect
Good Knowledge of SAML V1 and V2
Experience in the design and deployment of IAM solutions, including governance, provisioning and authentication around OpenID Connect from an engineering perspective
Experience in managing, implementing or supporting IAM systems in complex environments
Experience in engineering, configuring and integrating IAM software with third party/vendor/legacy solutions such as LDAP, AzureAD, Microsoft AD (On-Prem)
Experience in engineering in Azure PaaS, ARM Templates, Azure DevOps Classic and YAML Pipelines, Node JS, .NET, Serverless functions, Azure Service Bus, Azure SQL, Grafana
Experience with persistence technologies such as MSSQL
Experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
Experience with engineering search services and technologies such as AzureSearch
Experience in designing / building citizen facing services following the Digital by Default Service Standard (DbDSS)
Experience of software testing best practices (TDD, BDD)
Experience of using version control (Git, Github)
Experience with common software architectures (OOP, MVC) and database solutions
Extensive experience with principles of continuous integration and deployment
Extensive experience in agile ways of working and the associated tools
Openness to new technologies and willingness to keep learning
Good communication and problem-solving skills
Willingness to travel to client sites as required (fully expensed)
Microsoft Certified Azure Fundamentals – AZ-900 (desirable)
Public sector or consultancy experience (desirable)

This is a key requirement for the project, with the Azure DevOps Engineer ideally being able to start by March 2022.
