Relationship Supervisor – Pensions

Reed are delighted to be working with a public sector organisation to recruit for a unique role. The organisation is responsible for protecting workplace pensions in the UK. They work with employers and those running pensions to help people save safely for their retirement.

They have a fantastic office located in the heart of Brighton that is a short distance from the train station, shops, and the sea.

They are recruiting several Lead Specialist to join the Relationship Management department. The focus is to develop and apply supervision strategies that ensure they play a key role in preventing harm to UK Pension’s Savers.

They are looking for people who excel in the ability to build strong ongoing relationships with pension schemes and their employers and Pension Administrators.
You will need to have a high level of understanding of pensions and or regulation and an ability to apply that knowledge effectively to emerging and often challenging situations as part of the supervision process. Assured, confident and articulate, you must be able to manage contentious situations and multiple stakeholders who have differing agenda to reach a fair outcome that puts savers at the heart of that decision with appropriate application of our values, rules, and requirements.
You will:
• Build an open dialogue and strong professional relationships with schemes selected for relationship supervision where you will be the dedicated point of contact.

• To ensure the timely, efficient, and effective regulation of occupational pensions by having a deep understanding of pensions and or regulation and developing strategies and applying relevant knowledge, legislation, regulation, business rules and judgment in all the circumstances to reach decisions and communicate outcomes

• Achieve demonstrable improvements in regulatory behaviors and reduction in identified risks in the regulated entities in question, or to escalate appropriately
You must have experience of:

• Significant experience of working in a financial/banking/regulatory/legal/pensions environment

• Knowledge of the commercial landscape and of the pension market and knowledge of the underlying financial arrangements common in the market

• Proven track record of managing a casework portfolio (or equivalent)

• Proven critical thinking skills and an ability to assess and evaluate data, technical and legal information to reach a decision and make recommendations

• Excellent communication skills, evidence of building open dialogues and reporting findings to stakeholders clearly and giving clear, informed, and robust recommendations for further action

• Experience of negotiating and influencing at a senior level

• Experience of robust evidence-based decision making in complex areas

• Experience of working effectively independently and in a team

• Experience of working within project management and/or the development and delivery of end-to-end processes and evaluation of processes/outcomes
