Careers Advisor / Career Guidance Counsellor and Coordinator

Careers Advisor / Career Guidance Counsellor and Coordinator who is dynamic, driven, energetic and supportive with excellent interpersonal and communication skills is required for a well-established College based in Plymouth, Devon, South West England. Formal Careers qualifications are not essential, but the College would expect you to commit and complete relevant nationally recognised qualifications to support the delivery of careers. Working as a Careers Advisor / Career Guidance Counsellor and Coordinator you will be a highly motivated professional who will coordinate the careers education and opportunities within the College, as well as having options for also taking on additional responsibilities for setting a culture within the College that values all students. As a Careers Advisor / Career Guidance Counsellor and Coordinator you be responsible for developing and maintaining an effective careers and work-related learning provision, be responsible for the delivery of the schools programme of career advice and guidance and be able to develop links with outside agencies, providers, businesses and employers. As a successful candidate the College would like to invest in your professional development and support any training that you may need. It is important for the College to recruit the right person who could develop this role to benefit all their students. DUTIES Your duties as a Careers Advisor / Career Guidance Counsellor and Coordinator will include: Provide an inspiring and best practice careers service within the College Provide careers advice, guidance and support at key transition points within the College, including post-school choices Implement a strategic plan which guides the policies, plans, targets and practice Facilitate a careers advice programme within a tutorial and PSHE programme Ensure the College meets its statutory responsibilities in careers guidance Lead a careers team to deliver careers opportunities and raise aspirations across the College Suggesting, developing and maintaining effective partnerships with local, national and international businesses Organising events and hosting visits from a range of employers and speakers Developing a network of guest speakers from a variety of occupational sectors to work within school departments to link the world of work to curriculum learning Keeping abreast of developments and best practice in careers through research, attendance at training events and conferences, and establishing relationships with peers from other institutions Providing advice and guidance to students and supporting them to achieve these goals Advising students on how to source relevant training courses or qualifications and what funding might be available Providing advice on CV, applications, job hunting and interview techniques Keeping up to date with labour market information, legislation, and professional and academic developments by visiting employers, training providers and training events run by educational and professional bodies Organising, promoting and coordinating work experience and work placements Monitoring, recording and communicating leaver destination information Recording and monitoring careers activities within the College Working with a range of career services such as Enterprise Adviser Network, Generation Stem, Plymouth Careers Association and Next Steps South West Facilitate a programme of careers and employability to KS3 through the PSHE programme Manage student applications to HE extension opportunities Facilitate enterprise activities within the Sixth Form, identifying students and see through to completion WHAT THE COLLEGE OFFER An established and comprehensive induction programme A strong commitment to your professional development, excellent CPD and leadership development at all levels A supportive environment in which your enthusiasm will be encouraged, nurtured and rewarded A working environment focused on Teaching and Learning and raising standards for all A positive and stimulating school climate which values the contribution of all staff APPLICATION PROCESS We will be emailing over an Application Form to complete once you have applied via this job board.
