The Role Our clients Industrial team work with a variety of clients to provide power system consultancy services, primarily in the areas of protection settings and coordination, arc flash, earthing design, lightning protection, power quality assessments including G5/5, P28 and P29, and power system analysis including load flow, fault level, motor starting, and G99/Grid Code compliance studies. They combine these skills to offer their clients a comprehensive service and develop leading-edge innovative solutions to the industry. The Industrial team has a strong existing workload with an excellent client base, and they have plans to grow the team. As a result, they are looking to recruit a highly capable and motivated Team Leader with an eye for detail to manage, support and inspire the team. Further to excellent leadership qualities, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a proven ability to understand client requirements and provide innovative yet pragmatic and cost-effective solutions. Duties and responsibilities include; Lead and manage the Industrial team Perform and manage power system studies for a range of clients Line management of team members, including conducting appraisals and preparing training plans Work with the Team Manager to: facilitate effective management and growth of the team and workload manage resources and co-ordination of the team to ensure efficient delivery of projects and use of consultant time identify skills gaps, training needs, and recruitment needs to meet business plan targets, client needs, and overall company strategy Work with the Connections Team Director to carry out focused BD and sales tasks for industrial clients in addition to undertaking proposal activity, providing timely and efficient responses to enquiries and opportunities Ensure quality assurance of all team deliverables, including proposals and project reports Develop and maintain client relationships and manage partnerships with other consultancies and industry bodies and support the team to develop these relationships with their clients Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and other legislative and company requirements Work with all consultants in the team to ensure that lessons learnt are communicated and team skills are developed Work with the Connections Team Manager and the Resource & Operations Director to ensure that the team continually improve systems in relation to quality, health & safety and the environment The Candidate They are looking to recruit a bright and driven consultant with several years of professional experience. This exciting new role will provide the successful candidate with an opportunity to develop a career within the renewable energy industry with exposure to a wide range of projects and activities. Essential requirements; Strong experience and direct involvement and delivery of detailed power systems studies in software packages, such as SKM PTW, ETAP, PowerFactory, PSS/E, and IPSA. Detailed knowledge of electrical system analysis including fault level and protection settings and coordination. Practical experience of performing grid connection studies to meet the requirements of Engineering Recommendation G99 and Engineering Recommendation G5/5, P28, and P29. Working knowledge of most widely used electrical circuit protection relay types including voltage based, impedance based and current based relays and protection schemes. Experience of providing power system consultancy services within industries such Data Centres, Petrochemical and Pharmaceutical Industries. Experience in performing onsite power quality measurement at low and high voltage. Ability and willingness to travel independently within the UK and occasionally overseas to industrial sites. Excellent written and verbal communications with both technical and non-technical personnel. Desirable requirements; Post-graduate degree in electrical engineering. Market knowledge of one or more large industries such as Data Centres, Petrochemical and Pharmaceutical Industries. Protection scheme design. Detailed cable thermal rating calculations. Transformer design and rating calculations. System losses calculations. Earthing study design utilising CDEGs.
