Junior Electronic Design Engineer

This would be a fantastic opportunity for an electronics enthusiast, who is looking to develop a career in a small family company with the opportunity to work on different aspects of the product design.

The company has been successfully operating for 38 years in the heart of Hitchin. As the majority of directors are engineers, we understand the challenges behind designing a product. We offer a flexible and friendly environment for an engineer to develop:

Partial homeworking will be available once the probation period has finished

*

Financial support to relocation will be offered if outside a commutable area

Role:

Based in the product design team, the role will involve designing electronics circuit and firmware/software for new and existing products. We operate as a small unit so communication inside a multi-disciplinary team is very straight forward. The company has also invested over the years in 3D printing, 3D CAD software and testing facilities so that most design and tests (EMC, environmental) are carried out by engineers in house.

This role will also involve the technical support of our sales force with our range of programmable products: meeting with our customers alongside our sales representatives to help understanding their application requirements and provide technical training on how to use the product. Communication skills are therefore very important, the successful candidate should be able to present and explain the ins and outs of a product in a clear manner.

Remuneration:

This a permanent full time job with a salary that will depend upon experience and profile

Death-in-service benefit

1-5 years in a technical role, not necessarily in design

*

Although significant design experience is not required, the candidate will need to show a track record of hands-on design projects carried out at university or as a hobby at home.

Essential Skills:

*

Demonstrating a passion for electronics is essential

*

Confident in both verbal and written communication

*

Comprehension of the fundamentals of structured software design

*

Fluent in C/C++ software

*

Understanding of design of both analogue and digital circuits and the basic design rules for mixed analogue and digital circuit boards
