Operations Controller

As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a dedicated and passionate Operations Controller with experience in GAAP accounting. As the Operations Controller, you will be responsible for the accounting activity within the Pick Your Part division of LKQ and assist the Region Controller with all aspects of financial activities that occur within the region. Essential Job Duties:

  1. Assists in the review and preparation of internal/external financial statements in accordance
    with GAAP.

  2. Coordinates the work performed by plant-level accounting staff ensuring that it conforms to accounting procedures and is consistent across the region and ultimately the rest of the company.

  3. Acts as the key link between the field and the Financial Services Center (FSC) in resolving inquiries by the field to the FSC regarding particular postings or transactions in the general ledger.

  4. Supports the plant managers in resolving questions regarding payroll, Accounts Payable or other transactions that post into financial statements.

  5. Is or evolves into the subject matter except with respect to the yard management systems used within LKQ’s various divisions (e.g. Enterprise for HDT; Project X for Salvage, Prelude for AM).

  6. Assists the Region Controller with submitting quarterly projections, key statistical data, and other requests that emit from the corporate office.

  7. Supports the region/division and its plant/branch managers in the preparation of the annual budgets.

  8. Participates in the monthly business review process.

  9. Provides assistance with financial analysis of existing operations as well as prospective acquisition candidates.

  10. Conducts periodic internal control reviews at the salvage operations (the Aftermarket operations, per policy, are handled by the District Manager).

Job Requirements:

Education & Experience:

Bachelors Degree in Accounting or related field. Three to five years experience as a Plant Controller. Experience with GAAP analysis.


Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of management. Ability to multitask and prioritize workflow. Excellent computer skills with a mastery of Excel.

Essential Physical Demands/Work Environment:

This position requires approximately 60% travel.

Preferred Qualifications:

Oracle and COGNOS experience a plus
