Production Maintenance Supervisor

We believe that ingenuity matters at every level and every department in our employee-owned company. We are currently seeking a Production Maintenance Supervisor. This position supports hands-on maintenance and repair of CMC’s production equipment and manages the maintenance function and personnel.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position will split time between “hands-on” maintenance and supervision of the maintenance function.
  • The “hands-on” portion of the job includes service and repair of programmable, semi-automated and conventional sewing machines, ZUND CNC fabric cutter, manual and automated web cutting equipment, electric motors, pneumatics, and packaging equipment.
  • Supervisory responsibilities include:
    • Determine schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment, and skill of personnel. Monitor employees' work levels and review work performance.
    • Ensure the equipment is OSHA compliant, along with the processes used to maintain and repair it.
    • Manages spare parts inventory and budget, forecasting usage, ordering, and negotiating pricing for spare parts inventory.
    • Develops and implements a preventive maintenance program using maintenance management software to track repairs.
    • Develop a comprehensive data set of machine downtime trends, causes and corrective actions.
    • Report equipment uptime KPI’s and provide updates on continuous improvement maintenance activities.
    • Motivating, developing, and directing people as they work, identifying the best people for the job. Participate in recruitment and selection of maintenance staff.
    • Cross-functional training of maintenance staff and production personnel assisting with equipment maintenance.
    • Hiring subcontractors for specialized maintenance work.
    • Develop new methods/tools/assets to improve productivity and cut costs.
    • Member of safety team, with responsibility for conducting site safety audits.
    • Ensure the facility is safe and complies with all industry regulations
    • Perform other duties necessary.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to see the bigger picture to guide decision-making and prioritization.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong spoken and written English communication skills.
  • Spanish fluency required.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to work autonomously with little direct oversight.
  • Out of box thinker with excellent problem solving capabilities.
  • Proven equipment troubleshooting and repair skills with specific emphasis on programmable machine control software/hardware used with precision manufacturing equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of sewing machines preferred, not required.
  • Experience with work-holding Jigs and fixtures.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical blue prints, and equipment manuals.
  • Proven ability to interpret work instructions, job orders or travelers in written, verbal or scheduled forms required.
  • Skilled in the use of measurement tools calipers, and micrometers, gauge pins, etc.
  • Proven skills with Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Word.
  • Machine control programming experience preferred, not required.
  • Experience with maintenance management software and reporting preferred, not required.
  • General plant and facility maintenance experience.
  • Working knowledge of metal fabrication, and machining, turning, drilling, tapping required.
  • Basic Plumbing and Carpentry skills desired.

QUALIFICATIONS: (Education and experience)

  • Minimum 3 years hands-on experience repairing complex automated equipment is required.
  • 2-3 years of successful supervisory experience.
  • High school diploma.
  • Technical certification or military technical training preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Working conditions are in a normal office, manufacturing, and warehouse floor environments. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; sit and stand; using the hands to handle, finger, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Occasionally, the employee must crouch or kneel. The employee must occasionally exert or lift up to 40 pounds. Successful performance requires good eyesight with or without corrective lens.
