Global Head of Controls Transformation and Automation Engineering – C16

Overview of the Role

As Global Consumer Technology (GCT) Global Head of Controls Transformation and Automation Engineering, you will report directly to the GCT Head of Engineering Risk and Controls and will be an integral member of the leadership team who will partner with US Consumer Bank Business, US Global Consumer Technology Teams and others in the organization to define and create robust process simplification and digitization strategies. This role will lead the Lean Process Improvement program focused on reengineering processes to simplify and automate processes, enhance and automate controls, and improve client experience. Tools used will include Value Stream Mapping, SIPOCs (Suppliers, Inputs, Process, Outputs and Customer), Time and Motion studies, Benchmarking, Kaizen workshops, and Root Cause Analysis.

This role will lead a team responsible for developing “To–Be” processes, documenting identified policy and procedure gaps and executing a future state implementation plan. They will partner with North American consumer business leaders to develop strategic plans and approaches to meet business goals focused on end-to-end enhancements to and automation of operational processes and controls and execute on the set automation goals leveraging right and efficient set of tools like Automation Anywhere, UIPath, Xceptor, Appian, Pega, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct fact-based analyses and problem solving, and develop actionable recommendations to drive business impact through improvements in cost, customer experience, and demand management.
  • Own the end-to-end technology plan (milestones and deliverables along with timing, resourcing) in support of Consent order execution across various Program Groups.
  • Provide leadership in an evolving and increasingly complex regulatory environment across all departments.
  • Execute a process that will deliver on the expectations set by Citi’s Regulators.
  • Engage and provide updates with regulators, Internal Audit, Compliance Testing, and various Oversight teams and partners.
  • Create/manage a change control function that ensures that automation and operations changes are tested end-to-end prior to implementation and that all changes are documented and approved.
  • Work with other control leaders to identify, leverage and implement best practices and processes across Citi to strengthen our control programs.
  • Develop daily metrics to assess quality of execution to feed scorecards at all levels.
  • Apply knowledge of business products, processes and technology to identify opportunities for further strengthening of the control environment across the business.
  • Keep abreast of competitive landscape. Is considered a subject matter expert in the field of control management.
  • Manage, inspire, and attract top industry talent to deliver best in class digital experience for our customers.
  • Champion an inclusive and diverse global mindset in order to attract a deep and diverse talent pool within the organization that includes effective coaching and development.
  • Perform end-to-end review and challenge of program deliverables to confirm quality and adequacy of deliverables against program target state and regulatory commitments and expectations
  • Coordinate with Internal Audit on internal closure process for the program
  • Ensure sustainability of programs through appropriate capability building and implementation of best practice change management

  • Forge a response to the pressing challenges ahead, to deliver solutions in multiple dimensions, such as digital enterprise strategy, incubation and innovation, experience transformation, digital operations and digital trust.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience, including 10+ years' managerial experience directly managing high-performing technology teams with demonstrable and measurable results.
  • Lean/Six Sigma Master Black Belt Certification.
  • The candidate for this role will have a LEAN & DevOps background with hands-on Secure by Design/Compliance by Design/Resiliency through Design experience.
  • Consistent record as department head, managing teams and large, strategic cross-functional or enterprise projects Previous program/project management, consulting, technology and/or management experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of business procedures, financial services, control and regulatory industry knowledge and general understanding of relevant banking regulation and supervisory expectations for large complex financial institutions.
  • Proven ability to influence decision-making at all levels within an organization and influence non-directs through data and a vision in a variety of contexts
  • Deep technical knowledge, with the ability to break down the work involved in solving them, and the impact of those decisions on engineering
  • Demonstrates sound business judgment, analytical acumen, consumer-centric mindset and communication skills
  • A record of fostering a clear vision, translating that vision to action, and delivery of business measurable outcomes
  • High level of diplomacy and relationship management skills.  Ability to inspire trust, influences others, promote collaboration and motivate. Skilled at building and maintaining relationships.
