System Administrator II


The System Administrator II role is responsible for supporting both on premise and cloud-based computing environments. This resource also helps optimize software deployments, while maintaining high levels of availability and security. Finally, there will be involvement in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure that system provisioning and configuration is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.



  • Participate in and support capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for the systems and software in conjunction with end-users and department managers. 
  • Responsible for supporting virtualization environments (both development and production).  
  • Manage the server logs, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the Active Directory database.
  • Handle the maintenance and upgrade of the physical as well as virtual systems infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with network engineering, business application, and database administration functions to implement desktop and server systems that utilize industry best practices to meet corporate objectives.
  • Manage communications and connection solutions, including workstation connectivity, local area networks, company Web site, intranet, and Internet applications.
  • Ensure the integrity and security of enterprise data, both onsite and offsite, balancing business needs and industry best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Perform network and security audits.
  • Assist with performing and testing routine system backups. On a scheduled basis, simulate infrastructure-level system failure and execute business continuity plan, documenting results and updating plan to ensure successful results during unplanned outage.
  • Assist with deploying workstations, servers, printers, scanners, firewalls, encryption systems, and all host security systems.
  • Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems within infrastructure.
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
  • Analyze system, server, application, network, and input/output device performance.
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, and reconfigurations.
  • Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts.  
  • Participate in negotiations with vendors, outsourcing companies and contractors, to secure hardware and software products and services.
  • Develop, document, and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for system administration and appropriate use.


Education / Certification:                      

  • High school diploma required
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science preferred
  • MCSE certification preferred


Knowledge & Experience:                       

  • 5 plus years’ experience with basic desktop and server administration required
  • Microsoft office suite and database fundamentals required
  • Windows client & server platforms experience required
  • Virtualization solutions & SAN experience required
  • Office 365 administration experience required
  • SQL server experience required
  • Antivirus, web filtering, encryption, and core security software experience required
  • Active Directory experience required
