JOB SUMMARY:

Under supervision of the Loss Prevention Security Manager, is responsible for overseeing the safety and security functions of Northwood Hospitality's four Ballantyne hotels. Maintains a safe and secure environment for guests and employees by enforcing hotel safety policies, conducting preventative facility inspections, overseeing the workers' compensation program, and providing safety training. Responsible for managing the Loss Prevention team.

JOB DUTIES:


  • Communicates and interacts with hotel leadership and various internal and external customers. Assists guests with questions and complaints in a courteous and timely manner or forwards to appropriate staff person.
  • As authorized by the Loss Prevention Security Manager, conducts criminal, employee misconduct, and injury investigations by gathering evidence, conducting and documenting interviews, and collecting documents and photographs. Coordinates with law enforcement personnel, when applicable, and management
  • Prepares for and presents evidence at hearings and trials.
  • Conducts preventative inspections of the four hotels and premises.
  • Conducts initial and follow-up training at staff meetings and new hire orientation to familiarize employees with lawfully mandated "right to know" safety, security, and health topics. Completes and maintains training documentation.
  • Manages the workers' compensation program for the four Ballantyne hotels. Gathers information, conducts accident investigations, completes necessary forms, requests necessary documents,and acts as a liaison with the carrier, human resources, and employees.
  • Assists the Loss Prevention Security Manager by acting as a liaison between management, federal, state, local, foreign, and private executive/dignitary protection personnel along with other agencies, such as local police, fire service, and emergency medical services.
  • Assists in completing OSHA reports and investigations.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and city laws and regulations pertaining to safety, health, and security by reviewing current management practices and implementing new procedures.
  • Assists the Loss Prevention Manager with managing the Loss Prevention Team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree and seven years of experience in a leadership role in one or more of the following fields: corporate security, insurance/risk management or law enforcement or a combination of education and experience
  • Knowledgeable of federal, state, and local laws pertaining to safety, security and health
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience managing internal and external investigations
  • Advanced knowledge of workers' compensation and accident investigations
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills
  • Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Possession of, and ability to maintain, a valid driver's license
  • CPR certification required within the first year of employment
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to exercise discretion and use independent judgment to make sound decisions
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays is required.
  • Must be available 24/7 in the event of emergencies
