Development Assistant

Knox County Homeless Coalition (KCHC) is seeking an experienced development assistant to support our philanthropy team. This role requires a self-motivated, highly organized, customer service focused and detail-oriented individual who is passionate about working to support the engine that funds the life-saving and life-changing work of KCHC.

Knox County Homeless Coalition offers comprehensive programs and services to adults, families, and youth in Midcoast Maine. We deliver wrap-around programming and support to our clients, including Comprehensive Case Management services, The Hospitality House Family Shelter, and The Landing Place Youth Program. Everything we do is delivered with respect, dignity, and genuine caring, delivering on our promise of home, help, and hope.

This position works closely with the Development Director and Development Coordinator and provides essential support to the Development Team. Primary responsibilities include data entry using Little Green Light and other software, donor acknowledgments, and assisting with donor appeals, special projects, and event planning, preparation, and execution. This position will also help maintain the overall philanthropic support of the KCHC’s mission of breaking cycles of poverty and homelessness in Midcoast Maine.

The ideal Development Assistant will have excellent time management skills, be extremely detail oriented, and be able to manage multiple tasks, define and set priorities, and problem solve. The Assistant should be self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as collaborate with team members, volunteers, and the organization as a whole. This position has a direct impact on the organization’s reputation in the community and is expected to represent the agency with professionalism, tact, and grace.

The ideal candidate will be tech savvy, with the ability to easily learn current and new digital platforms. Expertise with databases, Google workspace, internet research, as well as Microsoft Word and Excel are required. Knowledge of Little Green Light and iWave is a plus. A bachelor's degree is prefered, along with 1-3 years of experience in an area related to fundraising, administrative support, or database management. Prior nonprofit experience is a plus.

This position will be paid hourly, commensurate with experience. We are seeking a candidate who can work 20 hours/week. Part-time staff at KCHC are offered paid time-off, 13 paid holidays, an additional paid holiday for your birthday, and Summer Fridays. This position is based out of our Rockport, Maine office, and can be remote the majority of the time.
