Medical Assistant/Receptionist - GI


Assists with all aspects of patient care as directed by office manager, nurses and physicians. Has previous experience as medical assistant and demonstrates proficiency.


- Proficiently provides patient care as directed by physician assistants and physicians.

- Proficiently maintains examination rooms appropriately including but not limited to ordering supplies and cleanliness.

- Proficiently greets checks patients into and out of computer, takes or updates patient demographics, pharmacy information, obtains co-pay and enters appropriate visit information into computer

- Schedules appointments appropriately per provider preference, obtains and verifies referrals and pre-certification as per department and insurance policies

- Proficiently answers/screens telephone calls, verifies appointments, routes calls and/or takes messages, calls pharmacies with prescriptions or patients with physician messages or results as directed.

- Performs additional job related duties as assigned including but not limited to orienting and training of newly hired medical assistants, clerical duties such as processing mail, making copies etc.

Medical Assistant I

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program
  • or at least one year of applicable patient care experience

Medical Assistant II

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred and/or at least 1 year of experience working as a Medical Assistant

Medical Assistant III

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program and 3 years of experience
  • Certification/Registration is required (RMA or CMA)
