Kennel Attendant

To be a kennel worker you should have:

Kennel attendants are entry-level workers who provide basic animal care in environments where animals are kenneled, as well as our open-play park. A love of animals and the ability to anticipate their needs is necessary for this job. Hours can be irregular, and the position can be emotionally and physically draining. There are typically no formal education requirements for this position, though previous experience working with animals is a plus. Kennel attendants must also be patient and possess problem-solving skills. You might need to deal with sick or injured animals, so you must be able to carefully follow instructions. They oversee the general upkeep of animals in their care and must provide individualized attention to them so they stay healthy and happy. General duties include keeping kennels clean and sanitized; Maintaining yards, parks and other areas, walking or letting dogs out in the dog park areas, preparing food, feeding and picking up after the animals; and reporting on the animal's condition/behavior to its owner. As our facility is both indoor and outdoor, you will be outside in varying weather conditions. Kennel attendants may be put in charge of the bathing, nail trimming and grooming of animals as well after being fully trained. Kennel attendants may also be expected to help with other duties, such as selling pet supplies, answering telephone calls and greeting clients to the premises. Kennel attendants may be asked to keep records, taking bookings and handling payments. Hours will vary depending on the time of year - weekends and holiday availability is required for all staff members.

Pay: $10.00 - $13.00 per hour
