The Role

Capital Benefit Group is seeking a well-rounded, highly-involved finance and operations leader for this critical senior leadership role. The Controller and Director of Operations will oversee all accounting and internal control functions of the organization. Additionally, this role will lead company operations.

Key Responsibilities Controller/Fianance

  • Financial accounting, including internal controls
  • Accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Monthly/annual financial close (banking reconciliation and distributions)
  • Payroll
  • Commission reconciliation and payment
  • Client membership reporting
  • Analyze revenue and expense trends to support strategic recommendations as appropriate
  • Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements
  • Provides leadership with information vital to the decision-making process
  • In conjunction with Leadership team, coordinates the budget and financial forecasting process
  • Collaborative oversight of our banking relationships, including compliance, services and fees
  • Key vendor contract management
  • 401k Plan administration
  • Liaison with Board, investor partner, auditors, tax advisors, banks, broker partners, insurance carriers, HR advisor, etc.

Key Responsibilities Business Operations

  • Oversee the general operation, use and efficiency of all company facilities, properties, and assets
  • Maintains a safe and productive work environment for onsite employees and guests
  • Liaison with facility management, vendors, maintenance, and security
  • Supervises Office Assistant


  • Prior experience as a Controller or equivalent of a similarly-sized organization
  • Prior insurance agency experience (preferred)
  • Ten-plus years of experience
  • Demonstrated ability to build the accounting function to support the needs of a growing organization
  • Strong technical and system skills, i.e., proven ability to use automation to improve operational efficiencies
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to hire, train and develop staff
  • CPA certification (preferred)
  • Strong talent, character, highly skilled, and commitment to excellence and ongoing professional and personal growth
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and methods with the ability to apply such knowledge to the accounting function
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of software
  • Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks
  • Executive management, leadership & team building skills with the ability to deal with all levels of personnel in the organization, as well as third parties and clients
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Exceptional communication skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $125,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year
