Optometric Receptionist

An ideal candidate is someone who will be the first point of contact for patients at the office, greeting them in a polite, well-spoken, and excited manner, activate patient files, and move patients through a pre-determined schedule of appointments.

We are also looking for someone who can navigate the sales floor with confidence and is sociable and easy to talk with patients.

In addition, this role provides an opportunity to learn/cross train for optometric technician functions and tasks; with the possibility for apprenticeship.

Some responsibilities include:

  • Welcomes patients and visitors to the medical office by greeting patients and visitors in person and on the telephone and answering inquiries or referring questions to other staff members.
  • Schedules appointments to optimize patient satisfaction.
  • Complete eyeglass orders with lab.
  • Moving and managing glassed order from inputting orders, to processing, to complete.
  • Maintains reception area in a neat and orderly condition.
  • Assists patients with insurance papers and billing questions.
  • Collect and distribute mail

Qualifications and Skills

  • High school diploma or relevant work experience
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude
  • Personality and demeanor to deal with the public and assist ill, older, or distraught patients.
  • Friendly and kind personality to deal with young children
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Proven work experience as a Receptionist, Front Office Representative or similar role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Hands-on experience with office equipment (e.g. fax machines and printers)
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $11.50 - $13.50 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift

Supplemental Pay:

  • Bonus pay

COVID-19 considerations:
To keep our staff safe we will provide masks and hand sanitizer. We will also require all patients to wear masks.

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

  • Optometry or medical office: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Customer Service: 3 years (Preferred)

Language:

  • Spanish (Preferred)
