Project Planner

Location: MA-Westfield

The Project Planner will join our Westfield office. The Project Planner will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, planners and environmental scientists serving as an integral part of project teams delivering creative engineering solutions to our clients throughout the Northeast.

  • 5+ years of land use planning and permitting
  • Undergraduate degree in planning, environmental policy, public policy, natural sciences, or related field (Masters preferred, but not required)
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal environmental and land use regulations
  • Familiarity with electric infrastructure siting and permitting
  • Familiarity with site design, stormwater management, environmental impact analysis, ability to work closely with engineers and environmental scientists
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multitasking environment, love challenges and details, be resourceful, and have great organizational and time management skills


The primary duties of the Project Planner are to support planning and permitting efforts for a range of projects including public infrastructure, electric infrastructure siting, stormwater management, site development, transportation, and other public and private projects. The Project Planner will also be involved in the development of municipal planning documents and Feasibility Studies.

  • Review and interpret local, state, and federal land use and environmental regulations for applications on specific projects
  • Coordinate permit application development, submittal and approval processes
  • Attend and facilitate meetings with clients and regulators, attend pre-permitting meetings, public hearings
  • Assist with the development of feasibility studies, project planning and design, design graphics, report writing and production
  • Analyze facts involved in the land-use and regulatory decision-making process
  • Research and apply for grant funding
  • Participate in new business development efforts and draft proposals and budgets
