Safety & Occupational Health (S&OH) Field Representative - 3rd Shift

Position Overview:
The Field Safety Representative supports, administers and trains personnel on all health and safety programs and ensures compliance within the manufacturing processes. The Field Safety Representative collaborates with Operations to ensure they have all resources they need to perform work safely in the field. This position reports directly to the Site Safety Supervisor.

Position Hours: 6:00pm - 3:00am

  • Provide on the spot coaching and solutions to operation teams on how to complete objectives/tasks safely.
  • Collaborate and embrace a One Gopher philosophy with other plants and groups within in the company.


Other Responsibilities:

  • Assist in or conducts investigations related to safety and health violations and accidents; evaluate cause(s) of accidents, identify corrective action as necessary, advise management on corrective action, ensure corrective action is completed
  • Provide on the spot training when opportunities arise out in the manufacturing areas
  • Teach manufacturing teams on hazard recognition, permitted work activities and emergency response
  • Perform PPE assessments and administration in the field
  • Conduct formal and informal inspections to ensure safety compliance; monitor potentially hazardous conditions in and around the plant and initiates corrective action as necessary; document issues and ensure corrective action is taken as necessary
  • Oversight of field safety consultants (as needed)
  • Other duties and projects as assigned by the site S&OH Manager


Requirements:

  • Must be able to work 3rd shift - 6pm - 3am
  • High School Diploma or GED minimally required
  • 5+ years of previous industrial safety experience within a manufacturing setting
  • OSHA 30 Hour or related Safety Certifications
  • Previous experience with supporting change management in a manufacturing organization
  • Working knowledge of local, state, and federal OSHA regulations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish relationships across all levels of the organization and with a diverse workforce
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills; capacity to be flexible and adaptable, and change priorities and direction as needed


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Health, Safety, or related field from accredited school preferred, but not required
  • Previous experience with industrial health & safety management within an industrial or chemical manufacturing environment preferred, but not required
  • Certified Safety Supervisor or Associate Safety Professional preferred, but not required
  • Previous implementation experience with ISO 9001, 14001, or 18001 preferred, but not required
  • Technical expertise with software management system like Intelex preferred, but not required


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a hot production area while wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including respirator, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to safely work in and around heavy industrial environment, including moving objects, concentrated chemicals, and transport vehicles with or without reasonable accommodation
