Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

This position installs, configures, and troubleshoots and ensures the integrity of client hardware and software. This includes computer workstations/laptops, peripherals, telecommunication devices, operating systems, and software. Provides technical support and basic instruction on a variety of technology issues, software, and related equipment. Assesses the need for and recommends, policy changes to support a productive, security focused, end user environment. Administers and maintains tools to deploy and monitor operating systems, software, and updates. Follows procurement process to acquire new hardware and software, managing required replacements, warranties, etc., ensuring the proper tracking of IT assets. Understands and complies with licensing agreements. This position interacts with all levels of employees and must be able to maintain a courteous, professional manner at all times.

DUTIES:

  1. Administer, Maintain, and Troubleshoot Client Hardware and Software
  • Administer and troubleshoot client hardware and software including: laptops/desktops/tablets, phones, Microsoft OS & OS components, Microsoft Office Products, Adobe products, printers, peripherals, various client software products, help desk related tools and software
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic network issues
  • Instruct users in the use of equipment, effectively communicating technical items to non-technical staff
  • Setup, install, implement, maintain, enhance, and configure client IT Systems
  • Manages end-user hardware/software lifecycle
  • Maintains complete and accurate records of deployed hardware and software
  • Assemble, install, move, and retire end-user hardware
  • Assess, recommend, procure, and install client hardware and software to meet business needs

  1. Maintain Technology and Tools Supporting Client Devices
  • Develops, maintains, and updates software image package and automation of OS/software installation or update packages, ensuring compliance with department policy and end-user based software licensing
  • Review, monitor, and maintain settings and system scans on client machines and recommends and requests changes based on observation and troubleshooting
  • Perform testing, monitoring, and/or assist in maintenance/patching of IT infrastructure components as appropriate

  1. Assure Compliance with Policies and Practices
  • Ensure compliance with policies, guidelines, procedures, and regulations
  • Identify and remediate client hardware and software noncompliance with policies
  • Follows defined purchasing policies for hardware refreshes, off-cycle purchases, software purchases, etc.

  1. Assures the Department’s Risk is Managed and Minimized
  • Ensure adherence with contractual obligations, licensing terms, manufacturer requirements, and best practices based on published authoritative guidance
  • During contract discussions, negotiate favorable business terms on behalf of the company
  • Assure that proper records and documents are created, maintained, and recoverable

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Associates Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline from an accredited college or university, with minimum two years experience in computer operations, desktop support, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledgeable in Active Directory, Windows OS, Office Productivity applications, IT infrastructure concepts (file systems, networking, virtualization, storage, backups, security, etc.), and application administration.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prior experience supporting users across a variety of platforms in an enterprise environment
  • Experience in end-user support role with demonstrated troubleshooting skills
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills; able to prioritize multiple assignments
  • Capable of working independently, multi-tasking, and assuming responsibility for deliverables
  • Comply with department and company policies
  • Worked in help desk ticketing system, documenting issues and resolution on a daily basis
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Able to tailor communications to both a technical and business oriented level
  • Dedicated weekly time to learning new skills necessary for self-development
  • High level of professionalism

Requires stooping and lifting to move boxes and equipment. Ability to remove and replace electronic components in the assembly or disassembly of computer equipment. The ability to manipulate a keyboard is necessary to operate the computer. Speaking, writing and reading are required for communications. Visual Acuity is required for operating and adjusting computer peripherals, and analysis of messages.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Basically light work consisting of exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/ up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
