Data Engineer

The Data Engineer role at DCCU is to is to design, develop, administer and support BI and Advanced Analytics applications using the enterprise data warehouse and data lake(big data)environments. The successful candidate is primarily responsible for delivery of new BI / Analytic project development and supporting existing BI / Analytic applications to meet the changing needs of our business at DCCU. This role spans the gamut of data and report development and operations.

Job Requirements:

Essential Functions:
• Translating business requirements from across the organization into technical data warehousing, data mart or data lake solutions.
• Design, develop, test, and implement programs, scripts and ETL/ELT processes to extract, transform, clean, integrate and load data from source systems into the data warehouse or data lake environment.
• Provide support to our internal customers with effective incident management, prioritization, initiation and execution.
• Analyze, design and develop BI Reports, Dashboards and Scorecards using Microstrategy or Tableau for the web or mobile platforms.
• Ensure daily / monthly data or report deliverables are delivered within communicated SLAs.
• Work with the development team to co-ordinate and execute Data Warehouse product releases.
• Deliver on change requests requiring a rapid response.
• Automate data warehouse test processes and release operations.
• Support and enhance existing Microstrategy and Tableau reports and dashboards.
• Perform ad-hoc analysis to independently handle business questions from customers.
• Keep up to date with leading edge technologies to improve BI, Data Warehouse and Big Data delivery automation for availability, maintainability, and scalability.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar discipline with minimum 3 years of related work experience or 7+ years’ of related work experience in lieu of a degree.
• Advanced SQL programming skills and experience writing stored procedures and custom SQL jobs.
• 3+ years’ experience in ETL/ELT development projects.
• Strong working knowledge of Python.
• Experience developing reports, documents, dashboards, and cubes using Microstrategy or other BI tool such as Tableau.
• A good understanding of dimensional data modeling and other industry accepted data warehouse design techniques with at least one full life cycle Data Warehousing / Business Intelligence implementation.

Preferred Qualifications:
• 2 +years’ experience developing reports, documents, dashboards, and cubes using Microstrategy.
• 2 + years’ experience in Teradata or other massively parallel processing database.
• Good working knowledge of scripting environments such as Windows or Shell scripting etc.
• Experience with ELT tools like Wherescape Red.
• Experience working in an agile scrum environment.
• Experience working in Big Data development for data ingestion and data transformation.
• Credit Union or Financial Services Industry experience.
