We are currently seeking a Social Media Assistant Manager to join our Marketing Team based out of our Vernon Hills, IL corporate office.

The Social Media Assistant Manager is an active listener, a critical thinker and a problem solver who approaches community management, reporting, social content planning and creation with enthusiasm and professionalism each and every day.

Here is what to expect as our Social Media Assistant Manager:

Content & Program Planning
  • Partners with internal teams, agencies, vendors and customers throughout the content creation process, contributing ideas and assuring the creative aligns to strategic direction and social media best practices.
  • Responsible for publishing/scheduling social media content for multiple brands across various social media channels.
  • Proactively works to source high-quality earned media content online (blogger content or user-generated content mentioning the brand) for sharing and amplification on owned channels.
  • Collaborates with internal teams to develop anticipated FAQs for new products and campaigns.
  • Supports overall social media program development and internal client education efforts by proactively identifying needs for FAQs, guidelines, processes and POVs and helping to develop them as needed.
  • Partners with sales and collaborates with our customers to share content insights, create social content, and measure success.

  • Responsible for conducting social listening exercises, analyzing results and reporting findings to brand marketing, sales, regulatory, product support and retail customers.
  • Proactively listens for, identifies and shares new trends emerging in our industry with marketing, sales and our retail customers.
  • Helps produce digital analytics reports for multiple brands, campaigns and customers.
  • Supports the ongoing development of the social listening and reporting program by creating and maintaining reports, dashboards, queries, filters and other data management tools.

Community Management
  • Manages multiple social media communities on behalf of Rust-Oleum's brands.
  • Responsible for monitoring and moderating the conversation, responding to consumers with approved language and escalating issues for follow-up as needed.
  • Proactively seeks out low-risk, high-impact opportunities to surprise and delight consumers on behalf of the brand or opportunities to produce agile content (reactive to real-time trends) and works with leadership and internal teams to quickly act on those opportunities.

Required Experience:
  • Ambitious, self-starter with a positive attitude.
  • Proven experience using social media channels, tools, techniques, and best practices for business is an absolute must.
  • Experience managing paid social media content and the conversation/engagement around it is required.
  • Experience managing multiple social media communities at one time is a must. Experience with Sprinklr or other social media management platforms is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to proactively identify, understand and communicate significant opportunities, findings, issues, or concerns to leadership and fellow associates a must.
  • Experience analyzing social analytics and listening data.
  • Sound understanding of the fundamentals of business and brand marketing.
  • Proactive, go-getter attitude. Not afraid to take on new challenges and projects.
  • Able to juggle daily responsibilities with multiple projects and deliverables on tight timelines.
  • Active listener, a critical thinker, and a problem solver.
  • Pays extreme attention to detail.
  • Team player and collaborator.
  • Strong personal, communication and time-management skills. Communicates clearly and with professionalism, effectively manages stressful situations, manages time efficiently.
  • Willing to go the extra mile to get the job done. Limited travel and evening/weekend work required.
  • Strong, recent references required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or related field required.
