Strategic Communications, Marketing, and Partnerships Manager

The Chicago Center for Arts and Technology (CHICAT) is seeking a full-time Strategic Communications, Marketing, and Partnerships Manager to increase brand awareness of CHICAT and enable the organization to meet strategic objectives. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications, Marketing, and Partnership Manager will manage the internal and external communications, marketing and public relations, digital and social media, and external partnership cultivation and management for CHICAT.

Situated in the heart of the Illinois Medical District, CHICAT is a start-up organization (2017), in its fourth year of our youth arts and adult vocational programs. One of ten U.S. based centers of arts and technology and a part of the National Center for Arts and Technology, our programs focus on the pursuit of brighter futures through pathways to help community members have livable wages and broader educational opportunities. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Digital and Social Media Platform and Content Development:

  • Develop and lead annual strategic communications and marketing planning.
  • Develop and execute a strategy to engage diverse audiences through CHICAT’s website and multiple social and communications channels, with an emphasis on increasing traffic to improve branding, awareness, and student recruitment.
  • Ideate, write, and produce timely and inspiring digital and social content that engages and expands CHICAT’s diverse audiences, and supports recruitment in classes and special programs working closely with CHICAT program teams.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the CHICAT website to ensure that the site is always current, accurate, and consistent with best and innovative practices.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of ongoing digital marketing and use insights for continual improvement and to increase and broaden our audience.

Communications Materials Development:

  • Develop and/or edit compelling written communications and presentations (e.g. fundraising materials, annual report, etc) that reinforce CHICAT’s vision and funding priorities for use by the Executive Director, Board members, Development Director and Program Directors with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop external and internal communications and correspondence (e.g. partnership letters, internal policies/processes, curriculum guides, etc.)
  • Identify and implement public relations and awareness opportunities such as writing articles for placements in online and community newsletters about CHICAT programs or securing additional media coverage.

External Partnership Management:

  • Working with senior leaders, develop a partnership strategy and help secure and cultivate partnerships on behalf of the organization.
  • Oversee and coordinate internal and external special events.
  • Manage space rental agreements and contracts with external organizations.
  • Ensure that program and other partners stay informed and connected to CHICAT’s work through coordinating and preparing for special meetings, preparing and sending written materials, etc.
  • Support the Executive Director, staff, and board in following-up with partners in order to ensure consistent and timely responses and outreach.
  • Support the engagement and building of social networks and email lists in order to build strong relationships with donors and partners. Manage contact lists to ensure that they are up-to-date.
  • Perform other related duties as requested and required assigned for the success of CHICAT.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or similar field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in online marketing, social media and/or professional writing.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience at a nonprofit.
  • Highly effective, demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience developing and/or executing a communications strategy for an organization.
  • Experience using social media for brand awareness and impressions utilizing various strategies appropriate for specific social channels such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram.
  • Event management and coordination.
  • Grant writing experience a plus.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a strong, creative writer, highly detail-oriented and committed to quality and excellence. Ability to craft compelling messages and stories for various audiences to support organizational mission.
  • Must have strong interpersonal and customer service skills in order to facilitate partnership development and manage organizational relationships.
  • Strong leader with vision, high energy, and the ability to motivate, lead and inspire the board, staff, collaborating partners and donors.
  • Familiarity with youth development, arts education, and/or adult workforce development preferred.
  • Creative, strategic thinker who applies an audience-centered approach to marketing and communications.
  • Ability to display concepts creatively and compellingly through visuals (Power Point, etc)
  • Must embrace the CHICAT mission and the communities we serve.
  • Must be proficient in a variety of written content types, such as blog articles, emails, social media posts, website pages, brochure copy and other marketing collateral.
  • Ability to understand and work with diverse constituencies and multiple viewpoints.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team. Must be flexible, have initiative, and operate at a high level of productivity. Ability to meet deadlines a must.
  • Skilled in office-based computer applications: MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Power-Point, Outlook).

Job Type: Full time, Exempt

Hours: 9am – 5 pm weekdays most days, morning, evening, and weekend hours may be required for special events.

Salary: $50,000 to $65,000
