The Dallas City Attorney’s Office is seeking an energetic and organized individual with experience in the criminal justice or social work field to serve as the South Dallas Drug Court Social Worker. The social worker reports to the Community Courts section chief and is responsible for providing comprehensive case management for participants in the City of Dallas South Dallas Drug Court, a specialty court that focuses on individuals with Class C misdemeanor offenses who suffer from alcohol, substance abuse, mental health, or dual diagnosis problems that contribute to their behaviors.

The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, conducting assessments on all participants of the court; providing comprehensive case management to participants; providing continuous review and quality assurance on drug treatment and case management services; attending court dockets, staffing meetings, trainings, and community meetings; developing weekly court staffing agenda; coordinating incentive programs; educating law enforcement, judiciary, and the broader community about drug court admission criteria; identifying new partnerships with social service agencies that can address the needs of the defendants; assisting with recruitment efforts to increase participation in the program; and coordinating with other internal and external staff and programs so that opportunities for participants can be maximized. Other duties may be assigned.

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in social work, behavioral sciences, or related field or equivalent experience working in social services, probation, or related fields. The candidate must be a licensed social worker and proficient in Office Suite products and possess a valid driver’s license. This position sometimes requires working nights and weekends.

Salary is commensurate with experience. The City's comprehensive benefits package comes with the position. This position is exempt from the provisions applicable to civil service, pursuant to Chapter XVI, Section 9 of the Dallas City Charter.
