Staff Accountant

Summary of the job:

The Staff Accountant is responsible for the recording of various business transactions on a day-to-day and month-to-month basis into the various software systems that are used at Hoff’s. The Staff Accountant is responsible to verify, allocate, and post transactions into the proper journals making sure there is supporting documentation for each transaction. The Staff Accountant is also responsible for reconciling various accounts at month and year end.

Essential Duties include, but are not limited to:

· Process all vendor invoices into the accounting system and verify the amounts were recorded in the correct period and to the correct GL account

· Perform Accounts Payable roll-forward on a daily basis to balance Accounts Payable Aging to transaction processing

· Process weekly check run and match invoices to printed checks

· Reconcile Accounts Payable Aging to General Ledger weekly after all processing and payments

· Maintain daily cash receipts journal

· Verify all customer deductions with existing programs and with documented back up

· Apply all customer cash receipts to open Accounts Receivable invoices

· Prepare daily journal entries and post non-system generated cash transactions

· Review Accounts Receivable Aging on a daily basis and conduct collection calls as required

· Responsible for sending out customer statements weekly

· Responsible for collections of past due invoices

· Open mail and pull back up for invoices

· Prepare and maintain various other GL account reconciliations

· Assist with monthly and year-end reporting

· Answer phone calls

· Wait on customer in the retail store

  • Support management team in other related duties, as needed

Experience/Education Required: Bachelors degree, in Accounting or related field required, 0-2 years relevant experience. Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel. Administrative writing skills, organization, data entry skills, general math skills, software acumen, analyzing information, attention to detail, thoroughness, reporting research results, verbal communication

Special Skills Required: Proficient written and oral communication skills in English.

The employee must have the ability to work with milk, egg, tree nut, wheat, peanut, and soybean products, in addition to many other ingredients.
