Data Engineer

Picwell helps people make better insurance choices.

Navigating the American healthcare system is difficult, and having the right insurance can improve both people's finances and their access to healthcare. Picwell builds a data-driven product to help individuals, like us, easily find the right insurance. We provide helpful insurance recommendations at scale by combining software engineering, statistics/machine learning/artificial intelligence, and health and behavioral economics. Our recommendations help thousands of families every week, and those who follow our advice save about $800 a year on average on health insurance, every year. Furthermore, we are growing! We have achieved 30-40% revenue growth in our direct-to-user product for the last 2 years, and we are on the path to achieve a similar growth in 2021. We are expanding our products to cover health saving account (HSA) contributions and other insurances, such as dental, vision, and ancillary and voluntary insurances.

Here at Picwell, we are proud of the welcoming and collaborative environment we have cultivated over the years. The team will help you improve your data engineering skills; you may also learn web development, machine learning/statistical modeling, and DevOps skills, depending on your interest. You will also learn about the insurance designs, which will definitely help you choose better benefits in the future; however, we believe that you will still want to use Picwell's recommendation engine for its accuracy and convenience! We offer competitive salaries and benefits in health/dental/vision insurances, HSA with employer contribution, and 401(K).
