Purchasing Buyer

JOB SUMMARY
The Buyer reports to the Director of Supply Chain. We are looking for a detail-oriented Buyer to perform a broad range of tasks in all aspects of Supply Chain operations and be responsible for ensuring that the day-to-day purchasing business results are achieved.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Source new products, ingredients and packaging and obtain documentation that meets company’s and clients’ specifications

· Monitor and maintain supplier pricing information based on changing market conditions

· Responsible for purchasing direct and indirect materials within standard cost and material requirements planning (MRP) tools

· Responsible for negotiating with suppliers to improve material costs and minimize impact of cost increases

· Locate and verify new contract manufacturers that meet clients’ requirements

· Work closely with Project Management, Sales, Finance, Logistics and Production team members to ensure on time launch of projects, quotes, sales and order processing.

· Perform any other duties as required.

· Attend trade events as required to support sales

QUALIFICATIONS OR EXPERIENCE/TRAINING REQUIRED
· Minimum 5 years of experience in Purchasing, Procurement or Supply Chain in a manufacturing environment.

· Education: Bachelors (preferred) in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related degree

· Experienced in Excel required

· Experience with various ERP and MRP systems preferred

· CPSM/CPM certifications desired

· Working environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will generally work in an office environment. Some tasks may require working in a manufacturing environment where appropriate attire and safety equipment are required.
