Human Resources Manager

CHADWICK-BAROSS, a New England leader in the construction equipment industry, is seeking experienced Human Resource Manager for its Westbrook, ME location.

This position reports to the President, and the Corporate HR Business Manager. The HR Manager will provide direct support and guidance to assigned client groups in all employment related matters including employee relations, training, organizational development, and HR metrics, in alignment with the organization’s strategy and culture. This position oversees the Human Resource and Payroll activities throughout a region for multiple entities and will require occasional travel as business needs demand.


Strategic Business Partnership

  • Work with operations team to identify, create and implement innovative human resources solutions that enhance business performance specific to manufacturing
  • Partner with Corporate Leadership to champion, execute and monitor the effectiveness of corporate programs and initiatives

Leadership Development

  • Drive talent review and succession planning processes using a consultative approach that ensures a strong talent bench
  • Work with leaders to create and ensure successful completion of individual development plans
  • Equip managers with the tools and training to optimize their performance as a leader of CBR
  • Working with Corporate Leadership to develop and facilitate leadership training from General Managers to Supervisors
  • Prepare and contribute key HR data to drive strategies
  • Coach and mentor the HR support personnel to execute and deliver daily HR activities

Talent Acquisition

  • Partner with the HR support personnel, Managers and Supervisors to acquire top talent through improved selection tools and criteria, and local outreach efforts
  • Cultivate internal talent, participating in key role promotional decisions
  • Ensure local relationships to recruiters to assist in timely recruitment
  • Ensure appropriate on-boarding is in place throughout the organization

Employee Relations

  • Contribute to the creation of a workplace that mirrors the CBR Values
  • Develop an employment strategy which includes positive employee relations training and making CBR an employer of choice
  • Manage and resolve employee relations issues by conducting effective, thorough and objective investigations

Compensation and Benefits

  • Produce all documentation to support on-boarding, annual pay reviews, compensation and benefit changes, promotions, secondments and inter-company transfers and exit process
  • Provide subject matter expertise and oversee the implementation of new policies, processes, and tools with a view towards creating operational efficiencies and improvements
  • Provide counsel to Managers, Human Resources colleagues and associates on pay decisions, policies and guidelines
  • Collaborate with HR and senior leaders on structure, role changes and related job analysis
  • Partner with HR colleagues with respect to job evaluation and classification and ensure that integrity is maintained within the base pay band structure
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of HR reporting and metrics to provide insight into business decisions
  • Create standard reports and provide internal clients with ad-hoc data for use in statistical analysis, strategic planning, internal/external surveys and presentations and reports


  • Ensure compliance with all federal, provincial, state and local employment laws and regulations
  • Ensure compliance with all Human Resource processes
  • Communicate, interpret and apply company policies, procedures, and Code of Conduct

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Human Resources Management or Business Management


  • Previous construction, heavy equipment industry experience (an advantage)
  • 10 years plus generalist HR and/or HR Business Partner experience


  • SHRM-SCP preferred
