Bereavement and Volunteer Coordinator II - Hospice

The Bereavement & Volunteer Coordinator II must have clear understanding of Title 22 and the Conditions of Participation for the hospice bereavement program requirement. The Bereavement & Volunteer Coordinator II works in conjunction with the Director of Bereavement & Volunteer Services, Bereavement & Volunteer Coordinators, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure the program of grief counseling and support services for survivors of patients served by Hospice. Ensure data statistics, documentations and quality assurance. Ensures the coordination of all aspects of Hospice Bereavement Care and performance improvements.

The Bereavement & Volunteer Coordinator II ensures recruitment, training, and supervision of Volunteer Coordinators with their assignments and make recommendations of their performance to the Director of Bereavement & Volunteer Services. Ensures appropriate levels of volunteer services, cost savings and percentage of volunteer hours required by Medicare Conditions of Participation.

SUPERVISES: Bereavement & Volunteer Coordinators II & I

Education: High school diploma required. Bachelor’s degree preferred
Credentials: Continuing Education in the field of grief, and volunteer recruitment
Experience: Experienced in a leadership role with the ability to motivate others to work as a team for at least two years within the department.
Core Competencies: Excellent clerical, oral, written and computer communication skills. Detail oriented with ability to follow through in a thorough and professional manner.
Other: Valid California driver's license and auto insurance

1. Works closely with the Director of Bereavement & Volunteer Services who organizes and directs all services and functions of bereavement & volunteer programs.
2. Implements bereavement & volunteer program and services as directed by the Director of Bereavement & Volunteer Services.
3. Trains new hires of the department to ensure quality job performance in accordance to the policy and procedure regulations, and productivity standards.
4. Evaluates the bereavement & volunteer programs in compliance with policy and procedure regulations.
5. Conducts QA bereavement assessments & plan of care, and make recommendations for correction/s.
6. Maintains and evaluates the bereavement program, including surveys in compliance with policy, procedure and regulations.
7. Ensures that requirements and standards are maintained by all bereavement & volunteer coordinators including productivity standards.
8. Ensures that all digital bereavement medical records & volunteer files are maintained in an organized manner and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
9. Oversees the generation and maintenance of statistics of the bereavement & volunteer quality assessment and quality improvement.
10. Ensures accuracy of statistical reports of the Bereavement & Volunteer programs.
11. Assists the Director of Bereavement & Volunteer Services in community and volunteer education programs.
12. Assists in providing consultation and education to the community to increase knowledge related to hospice bereavement department and serves as information and education resource person to community and hospice personnel including volunteers as appropriate.
13. Serves as a resource and support system to the staff in problem solving and determines appropriate intervention.
14. Assists in the investigation of issues and recommends corrective action that falls within the positions job description.
15. All other job duties as assigned by the Director of Bereavement & Volunteer Services.
