Job Description: Plant Engineer

Department(s): Maintenance & Engineering

Reports to EVP Global Manufacturing

Job Summary:

Provide responsible leadership of assigned Production Maintenance, Wastewater, and Facilities Engineering, and additional grounds and facilities as assigned.

Responsible for daily and long term: maintenance, PM, upkeep, layout planning, and improvements or recommendations thereof, for all structure, machinery, infrastructure, utilities, and other associated supports or services, as assigned.

Responsibilities handled through direct supervision and involvement, and through project engineers, reporting area/craft supervisors, area/craft lead employees, technicians, mechanics, contractors, and others as necessary.

Responsible for accurate and adequate data collection, charting, and representation of key metrics of Labor, RTS, downtimes, mean times, and other quality/efficiency/productivity/daily/project related.

Summary of Essential Job Functions:

1. Direction Planning/Organization/Staffing of Maintenance, Engineering, and reporting departments 006, 007, and 010.

2. Direction/Guidance of reports at Engineer, Supervisor, and/or Shift Leader levels to accomplish coherent Maintenance and Engineering areas direction.

3. Direction/Guidance of reports at Technician, Mechanic, and/or Contractor and other levels to accomplish needs of the plant and facility.

4. Interaction with Department Heads, Supervisors, Employees, and others to provide support of repair, maintenance, fabrication, design, and engineering to fulfill their needs and provide these services on many levels.

5. Provide development, implementation, and guidance of preventative, predictive, training, safety, other programs and technical introduction to offer, foster, and grow improvements of plant, facility, and maintenance conditions.

6. Provide continued availability of major utilities through recommendations, contracts, negotiations, and physical upkeep as necessary of these systems, not limited to, but inclusive of steam, natural gas, fresh water, power, compressed air, fire protection, and wastewater treatment and discharge.

7. Provide continual management and monitoring of staffing levels, wages, repair costs, parts costs, and other expenditures to maximize benefits of goods or services as rendered vs. cost of goods or services.

8. Annual budget preparation of recommendations for numbers of employees, crafts required, training needed, and suggested or required, capital and/or upkeep expenditures.

9. Control of capital expenditure/installation, plant projects.

10. Provide effective communication both written and verbal to directing Manufacturing VP, other area VPs, Financial Officer, President, and Owner as necessary at frequency to keep all well informed of problems, pending issues, hazards, or active status of other.

11. Attend trade shows, seminars, and continuing education courses to stay up to date with the latest technologies of interest to our company.

12. Self-motivated and reliable, with high integrity.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Good visual acuity and manual dexterity.

2. BS Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical preferred.

3. Minimum 10 years of experience as Maintenance, Engineering, or Facilities Manager.

4. Extensive knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, EPA, DENR, DOT, NEC, and other Local, State, or Federal Codes/Guidelines.

5. Previous direct supervision of craft employees/technicians numbering simultaneously 20 or more.

Physical Requirements:

1. Stands: Typical 30%, on concrete. Sits: Typical 30%. Walks: Typical 40% on concrete.

2. Moves/Travels: Entire plant, roof, and grounds as necessary.

3. Heights: Climbs ladders as necessary. Uses man-lifts and lift baskets as necessary.

4. Lifts: Up to 50 lbs. Uses hoists and material handling equipment to assist with larger, as necessary.

5. Pushes/Pulls/Reaches/Bends/Stoops: Numerous times daily.

6. Uses computer: 2 to 3 hours/day.

7. 9 to 12 hour days typical.

8. 12 to 16 hour days possible.
9. Extended length days occasional, 2 to 3 days/year.

10. Available as needed including weekends and holidays, with valid drivers license and transportation.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
