Medical assistant may assist Physicians, Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioners in performing clinical and administrative duties such as preparing patients for examinations and treatments by taking temperature, weight, blood pressure, pulse, give injections, take blood for testing, perform simple lab tests and evaluation tests. MA’s may also be responsible for front office duties.

Supervises: No Supervisory Responsibility


· Welcomes patients by greeting them, in person or on the phone; answering or referring inquires

· Prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room; providing examination gowns and drapes if needed

· Reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of the visit or treatment

· Supports patient care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations; preparing laboratory specimens; performing basic laboratory tests on the premises; disposing of contaminated supplies; sterilizing medical instruments; administering medications on the premises; authorizing drug refills as directed; and telephoning prescriptions to pharmacy

· Educates patients by providing medication and diet information and instructions, answering questions

· Completes records by recording patient examination, treatment, and test results

· Ensures exam room is cleaned after each visit

· Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock and letting the appropriate party know to place an order

· Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations

· Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential

· Serves and protects the physician or health care provider, by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirement, and HRSA standards

· Supports the agencies Mission, Vision and Values Statement.

· Performs all other duties as assigned.



Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19

· Knowledge of basic nursing care and procedures

· Knowledge of medical terminology

· Knowledge of sterile technique and universal precautions

· Ability to demonstrate competencies in clinical areas

· Knowledge of HIPPA regulations

· Knowledge of using Electronic Health Record systems

· Ability to make patients feel at ease and customer service skills

· Ability to take instruction from providers

· High attention to detail

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Current BLS certification


· Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred, Medical Assistant Certification


High School diploma or GED


Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in a health care setting, and working with patient information.


Requires sitting, standing and walking for extensive periods. Some bending and stretching required. Manual dexterity using computer keyboard is necessary. Must be able to carry and move more than 30lbs.


Ambient room temperatures, lighting and a traditional office environment exists. May experience traumatic situations including psychiatric and medical crisis situations within the environment; some exposure to hazardous materials or physical risks requiring basic safety precautions; exposure to blood borne pathogens requiring PPE. Exposure to virus, disease, and infection.

Pay: $13.50 - $16.00 per hour
