Economic Development Coach

This is a pilot program launched by the County of Los Angeles Chief Executive Office, Poverty Alleviation Initiative. SBCC will serve as the Program Administrator for the Countywide Guaranteed Income (GI) pilot program that will provide 1,000 County residents with $1,000 per month for three years. Our role is to serve as the facilitator in the design, launch, and management by leading outreach and engagement activities, assisting with data collection and more.

Components of the program will include:

· Collaboration

· Resources building

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute program initiative and facilitation to disseminate requirements and encourage applications.
  • Support Program Director in writing and delivering program outreach strategies.
  • Data tracking for participants.

· Ensure benefits counseling and other supports are provided to potential participants

  • Coach, challenge and encourage families to take steps to set short and long term goals that may or may not be economic driven.
  • Build unity and community amongst participants
  • Identify and build relationships with experts/partners in the field that can be of service to participants, such as local and county departments, community stakeholders and elected officials
  • Develop and participate in group coaching or 1:1s with participants to address concerns, provide a community social network, and ensure success of each participant through in-person or zoom meetings
  • Assist participants in problem solving potential issues as they arise
  • Assess achievement and outcomes of each participant during duration of program.
  • Maintain ongoing tracking and appropriate documentation of participants under the program's strategies.
  • Engage in community meetings, events, and conferences as needed to represent SBCC effectively.
  • Refer and link participants to appropriate community resources and programs, as needed
  • Prepare required reports, communications and other documentation in a timely manner
  • Participate in the agency wide annual fundraiser, as well as on-going fundraising efforts
  • Check emails during work hours and reply to all messages in a timely manner
  • Provide Weekly Report of activities, assignments and 1:1s sessions with participants to Program Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Department Director & Executive Director.

Ability to:

  • Believe in the capacity of low-income families to lead their own change and make decisions that are best for them.

· Lead and manage responsibilities independently

· Facilitate group coaching and 1:1 sessions · Work in a collaborative environment · Work with a diverse set of community-based organizations, residents and stakeholders · Foster open communication within and among diverse groups · Transport participants as needed. · Support in carrying and setup/cleanup of equipment for presentations, events, meetings, etc. · Support participants to meet their personal entrepreneurial and economic goals. · Show initiative, creativity, and a positive attitude. · Have a commitment to building relationships in the community · Operationalize opportunities that may benefit the participants and agency as a whole. · Demonstrate loyalty to the core values of SBCC. · Accept constructive criticism well and follow the instructions of management

Required Skills & Qualifications

· Thorough knowledge of financing techniques and programs for economic development and redevelopment including the ability to apply creativity to each situation.

· Bi-lingual in English and Spanish is required.

· Excellent communication and organizational skills

· Problem-solve and meet multiple project deadlines

· Success oriented, assertive, high achiever, with demonstrated leadership and time management skills

· Experience with public speaking and presentations

· Takes initiative and is a self-starter

· Open to things continuously changing in order to learn best practices and continuously improve the program

· Working knowledge of the following computer programs, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, Zoom and Social Media applications

· Vehicle and appropriate auto insurance coverage, bonded, and a valid California Driver’s license

· Degree in related field or combination of equivalent work experience and education

Pay: $26.00 per hour
