Service Porter

In this role, individual will spend much of their time maintaining the cleanliness of areas assigned to them, which include lobbies, staircases, bathrooms, and other building areas, as well as the surrounding space outside. This entails using various cleaning techniques such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and disinfecting.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Understand and adheres to all applicable IPC- and Department –issued policies and/or guidelines.
  • Perform all disinfecting duties for the facilities using approved products, tools, and procedures.
  • Use proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) where required.
  • Policing entrances so they are always looking their best.
  • Cleaning common areas like kitchen, restroom conference rooms and patios.
  • Attention to detail, thorough, and conscientious.
  • The ability to be flexible, work at a fast-paced and multi-tasked job is a must.
  • Have respect and understanding for co-workers and customers.
  • Understand customer needs and expectation.
  • Communicate with coworker to ensure proper coordination of efforts to exceed customer expectations.
  • Must know proper procedures and all phases of cleaning of offices, restrooms, etc.
  • Restocking restrooms as needed basis.
  • Must be familiar with procedures for all phases of janitorial responsibilities.
  • Vacuum rugs daily.
  • Empty trash containers daily.
  • Dust and polish all woodwork, desks etc. on regular basis.
  • Must be able to work overtime and on weekends as needed basis.
  • Needs to maintain stock room neat and organized.
  • In addition, the following functions may be performed by the Janitor on an “as needed” basis:
  • Clean bathrooms daily, change paper towel dispensers, clean wash basin and bowl daily.

Monitor Inventory

Handle cleaning equipment, responsible for monitoring the inventory, taking note of missing cleaning supplies and notifying management if additional stock is necessary. This extends to items such as tissue rolls in bathrooms, and paper towels, which they oversee and replenish regularly.

Assist Customers

Have a professional, respectful attitude towards customers, greeting them and making them feel welcome within the establishment. Do your best to assist customers by giving thorough information in response to inquiries, fulfilling small requests, or directing them to appropriate staff members.

Provide Support

It’s common for porters to provide support to the administrative or operations team and take on miscellaneous tasks. Receive and distribute packages, replace office supplies, or transport furniture and heavy objects.

Report Issues

Stay in various areas of the building and interact with customers, be vigilant of customer complaints, safety hazards, or non-compliance issues. They must report these promptly to management, who may ask them to coordinate with other staff members for resolution.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Less than high school education; or up to one year of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
