We prefer 4 years of experience, but we will also consider seniors at the 3 year level. CPA is required for the Accounting Supervisor.
Position Summary:

The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for preparing financial reports and analyses, including the Firm’s financial statements, and summarizing key metrics/information from multiple sources. This individual will have the primary responsibility for the management of the Firm’s Chart of Accounts, as well as the Fixed Asset system. This individual will also serve as the primary contact with the Firm’s external auditors.
Minimum Education & Experience of the Accounting Supervisor:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, in addition to their CPA certification.
  • Four or more years of Public Accounting experience with a Big 4 or Mid-Tier National Accounting firm.
  • Prior audit experience with a Law Firm or Professional Services Firm is a plus.
  • Proactive personality; strong results-orientation.
  • Written and oral communication skills to clearly and concisely summarize conclusions and observations to various members of the Firm, including the Assistant Controller, Controller, Chief Financial Officer, various office and functional department leads, as well as Partners.
  • High level of proficiency in Excel and Word with experience with accounting software is essential.
  • Solid customer service orientation, good people skills, and a commitment to excellence.

Duties & Responsibilities of the Accounting Supervisor:

  • Prepare/review and analyze various financial reports including headcount metrics, variance analyses, and comparisons to other benchmarking information.
  • Prepare/review monthly account reconciliations; analyze and correct discrepancies.
  • Manage the Firm’s Chart of Accounts, including review of accounts and internal processes for optimization.
  • Coordinate with teams within the Finance Department as well as Functional Area and Office Leaders to ensure appropriate use of Chart of Accounts as well as accurate GL coding.
  • Be responsibility for the Fixed Asset system, including accuracy of the sub-ledger and all related accounts.
  • Act as primary liaison with the Firm’s external auditors during the Firm, Foundation, Benefit Plan, and related entity audits.
  • Participate in the Firm’s annual budget and forecast process.
  • Supervise and train less experienced team members in development of accounting and analysis skills.
  • Work with the Firm’s Tax Department and international Finance team on reconciling local statutory financial statements.
  • Actively participate in/contribute to financial system and process re-engineering efforts.

Stay involved with complex accounting projects and initiatives with other members of the Finance team as needed.
