Job Title: Field Sales Representative
Reports To: VP, Sales
Position Location: New York/New Jersey

Position Summary:

Given the existing base of engagement that Cole-Parmer enjoys with these customers and the requirements of working with industry leaders, the role requires a proven sales star with a documented track record of performance and existing relationships in the customer base. This role is great match for a sales professional with 4-7 years exceeding quota selling technical products to pharma and biotech companies. A candidate will excel if they have an unstoppable hunger to win, exquisite control of the sales process, and the ability to demonstrate technical knowledge sufficient to gain credibility with the customer. A seasoned presence and effective communications outside and inside of the company are expected. This role may not be suitable for those early in their selling career, for those that have not sold into this customer base, or for those that come from a technical background only – even if it includes some customer interaction. This is a top sales role for top sales professionals.

Roles / Responsibilities:

  • Develops new business within the New York/New Jersey territory and inside of existing key accounts.
  • Develops strategies and implements plans to grow profitable sales. Follows up diligently on leads received from other areas of the organization.
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with multiple customer departments while focusing efforts on end users and decision makers.
  • Achieves annual sales and gross margin targets; operates within expense budget guidelines & policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited higher learning institution in business or science
  • 4+ years of outstanding sales success with technical products in the local biopharma, biotech, and medical/academic customer base
  • Must be results orientated; assertive and self-motivated, and able to communciate your experience with sales process, prospecting/qualifying, forecasting and funnel management Must have excellent negotiation skills to close sales and meet gross profit targets
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills to communicate effectively with customers, customer service, and different levels of internal and external customers
  • Must have analytical skills and intellectual ability to develop ideas, products, and solutions, and apply creative thinking, prepare a business plan and leverage quantitative data.
  • Ability to travel as needed to meet the objectives of the territory and to occasional industry or company functions
