Construction Accounting Specialist

Seeking an experienced construction job Accounting Specialist to join a well-established, fast growing, innovative builder located in downtown Los Angeles.


  • Review owner contracts to understand payment terms, cost of work definition and other requirements/allowances
  • Ensure cost of work allowances are maximized by proper set up of project, assessment matrix, monthly entries
  • General understanding of insurance requirements for project
  • Identify any potential/real claims for project and notifies Accounting Supervisor
  • Administer subcontract documentation including subcontracts/revisions current insurance, bonding subguard WCB statutory declarations, conditional/unconditional releases, etc.
  • Certified Payroll / Labor Compliance
  • Reconcile and enters monthly progress payments
  • Adhere to any joint check agreements or garnishments etc. with respect to payments
  • Maintain log of preliminary notices
  • Ensure that month-end deadlines and reporting are met
  • Adjusts claims as necessary
  • Reconciles billing to ledgers
  • Monitor collections daily and follow up on outstanding amounts
  • Ensure proper approval of invoicing/expeditors
  • Ensure invoices are being entered timely
  • Match receivers to packing slips and invoices for processing
  • Reconcile vendor and subcontractors accounts as required
  • Approve weekly payments to suppliers/subcontractors
  • Audit function – ensure internal and external requirements are being adhered to Liaison with external auditors
  • Familiarize with project requirements and support operations with information as required
  • Communicate with project personnel, supplier, subcontractors and owners as required
  • Maintain project files
  • Other duties that may be required by the accounting supervisor and administration manager for example:
  • Year end analysis
  • Year end reporting

Maintain and reconcile fees on our own work, misc. recoveries and rechargeable payroll


  • 2+ years of recent construction experience
  • 3+ years in accounting
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skill to work effectively with others (i.e. coworkers, vendors, colleagues, customers, etc.)
  • Exceptional organizational skills to effectively coordinate and complete a variety of business tasks in a timely manner and streamline workflows to improve efficiency
  • Excellent written communication skill to compose reports
  • Oral communication skill to communicate with co-workers

Familiar with California waivers and releases, AIA form billings (G702/703), and preliminary notices.

Pay: $60,000.00 per year
