Foodservice Regional Sales Manager - EAST

Cooper Tea Company is a specialty tea company that makes best-in-class iced tea concentrates for the foodservice channel. Our teas are served nationwide in various foodservice segments, including restaurants, casinos, healthcare facilities, schools & convenience stores. We excel at product innovation, driven by our in-house R&D expertise and ability to respond nimbly to customer needs and market trends. We are seeking a Regional Sales Manager to build sales, manage accounts, and provide leadership in the field for the Eastern part of the country.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage network of independent beverage distributors in the East, to grow sales revenue. Provide leadership, training and support to resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Routinely visit independent distributor companies to join distributor reps for ride-alongs. Act as product expert on joint sales calls to close deals, grow sales, provide on-the-job-training, build relationships and increase penetration in the local market.
  • Work with Customer Service to provide distributors with samples and set up in-store tests.
  • Investigate and develop new distributor & new channel opportunities based in East.
  • Grow regional chain accounts, via independent or broadline distribution or direct sales.
  • Work with Director, Sales & Marketing to schedule and work tradeshows- both regional shows and as part of the sales team for national shows.
  • Work closely with the Director, Sales & Marketing to win national chain account business as a team; provide ongoing support in the field to national accounts as needed.
  • Assists Director, Sales & Marketing in developing sales strategy, including annual sales plans and monthly goals and tactics according to customer and channel that achieve desired short and long-term goals in growth and profitability.
  • Provide progress reports on a weekly basis; report detailed quarterly results regarding progress towards goals and ROI.
  • Read and network to stay informed about product trends and competitive activity in the assigned region; provide suggestions to ensure company stays at the front of the pack.This position will be based out of a home office within the assigned territory and should be near a major airport. Up to 50% travel will be required; typically travel is outside the local area and is overnight. Most travel will be in the Northeast Corridor, MO, IL, TN, GA, FL and to the Boulder headquarters. Weekend travel will occasionally be required for meetings &/or tradeshows.

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA a plus.
  • 5+ years of field sales experience, at least 3 in Foodservice sales.
  • Proven track record of closing deals, landing new accounts, and meeting sales goals.
  • Prior experience with beverage operations preferred (sales, GM, bartender, chef, etc.)

Skills Needed:

  • Effective at working out of a home office: organized, self-starter, goal-oriented.
  • Ability to excel in an environment with both small-company resourcefulness and corporate-level systems of accountability.
  • Good conversationalist and excellent presentation skills.
  • Good at math; ability to calculate cost per oz, profit margins, etc. for customers.
  • Strong written communication skills, including grammar and spelling.
  • Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant software.
  • Comfortable with change; innovative and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Enjoy drinking iced tea.

Physical Demands:
Employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 45 pounds. Employee must be able to balance, kneel and crouch to set up a tradeshow booth and product displays.
