Branch Operations Support

Description:

Branch Operations Support reports directly to the Operations Manager and provides support to the branch operational staff relating to the functional daily duties of operating a branch office. The Branch Operations Support has a primary support role for the key operations at the bank’s branch offices, teller activities, new account activities, data processing activities, merchant services, ATM, and debit/credit cards. This position ensures the branch operations team remains compliant in their operations, and branch audits are completed accurately and in a timely fashion.

Duties:

  • Establishes controls and monitors all areas of operations by writing, reviewing and updating procedures for employees to follow.
  • Responds to questions from operations staff or other internal departments regarding compliance and operations.
  • Assists the branch operations staff with operations audits and certifications. Consistently conducts CTR, CIP, CDD and EDD reviews and performs a review of new account checkbacks.
  • Corrects exam or audit deficiencies and, in conjunction with the Market Manager and Operations Supervisor at the branch, responds to exam or audit findings.
  • Addresses and resolves all operational concerns, issues and questions in a timely manner. Conducts training as necessary.
  • Processes all required and special reports on the operating functions of the Bank and provides to bank management.
  • Maintains a high level of knowledge of the core system, deposit products and bank services.
  • Works in conjunction with other internal departments, i.e., Compliance, Treasury Management, Data Processing.
  • Conducts a regular analysis of operational activities to assess bank performance, identify ways to increase efficiency and monitor for potential fraud situations.
  • Conducts employee training to ensure conformance with compliance, regulations and the Bank’s policies & procedures.
  • Reports trends and findings to management to gauge success of training and identify potential process improvements.
  • Creates resources/references guides to support operations staff.
  • Travels to each branch, no less than quarterly or as needed, to provide training, discuss procedures, look for efficiencies, evaluate compliance, perform audits and determine any needs of the branch while developing high-quality relationships with the teams in those locations.
  • Serves in multiple, temporary assignments, to provide coverage for Market Manager, Operations Supervisors or other banking positions, inclusive of teller and new account operations, to ensure smooth and ongoing operations of the branch.
  • Backs-up the Assistant Director of Retail, as needed.
  • Completes projects as assigned by manager.
  • Attend on-site, periodic, operational meetings, as requested.
  • Completes annual E-Learning Plan, Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and other compliance training as assigned and maintains up-to-date knowledge of BSA and other regulatory requirements as it relates to the job function.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Education Requirements:

  • This position does not have direct reports.
  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
  • A minimum of five years supervisory experience in a financial institution is required.
  • Current operations, teller, new accounts, branch data processing and ATM and knowledge is required.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Be able to define problems, collect data, and establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • The ability to investigate and solve problems and to read, analyze, and interpret general technical procedures is essential.
  • Team-oriented work style.
  • Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills are required.

Physical Requirements:

This person must have the ability and means of transportation to and from bank branches. Ability to effectively interact orally, visually and in writing with customers, vendors and other employees; strong ability to comprehend and retain detailed information; ability to identify potential relationships that will be profitable to the Bank, to include mathematical skills and the ability to analyze and weigh a variety of facts; and the ability to understand, recall and explain the various products offered by the Bank.
