Payroll Administrator

CSS is seeking a Payroll Administrator for a major client in the Philadelphia area.
The Payroll Administrator will be responsible for processing bi-weekly payroll for multiple companies and assist in the documentation of all areas of the payroll process. The position will perform all necessary activities related to payroll including, but not limited to maintaining related records, filing tax reports and voluntary deduction reports, processing involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments, preparing accounting transactions and documents, documenting and updating procedures, and preparing special reports for management. This person should be comfortable interacting with all levels of management and employees alike. This person should be an independent think and self-starter with problem solving spirit. In addition, the Payroll Administrator will assist with certain AP/AR and General Ledger functions.

To succeed in this role, one must be assertive and can handle being the middleman between management and employees. They must be a problem solver and adaptable to a quickly changing environment. They need to be able to/want to take the initiative to fix problems without much guidance. They must be detailed oriented and/or can help find the details to help HR find the solution to a problem.

This is a growing company and this role must be adaptable to changing policies as well as helping create them. This is not your typical corporate environment. They want someone who will own the role and make it their own. Ideally, they would like someone who has been part of a company buildout/expansion in a prior role.


  • S. in Accounting or equivalent education and experience is preferred but not required
  • Minimum of 5 years of payroll processing experience in a multi-company environment
  • Knowledge of all applicable state and local laws
  • Intermediate Skill level in Excel
  • Working knowledge of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivables, and Payroll
  • Experience in QuickBooks software is a plus.
  • Experience with Paycom payroll software is a plus.
  • Experience in restaurant/hospitality industry is a plus.
  • Reliable transportation and punctuality is required in this position.
  • **BONUS**: Bilingual in Spanish
