Staff Accountant - Audit / Consulting

STAFF ACCOUNTANT

Responsibilities

  • Become familiar with the firm’s Quality Control policies.
  • Become familiar with the firm’s policies and procedures including methodology on auditing.
  • Understand the rules, requirements, code of conduct and standards of the AICPA, and the authoritative literature established by the FASB, and GASB.
  • Obtain a working knowledge of accounting research techniques and the various research sources in the firm library (RIA Checkpoint Library).
  • Obtain a working knowledge of firm technology, including the use of Advance Flow, Engage, Fixed Asset CS, Checkpoint tools, T Value, email, and the Internet; and the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, GAS, contents & applications of audit programs.
  • Perform audit procedures on sections as assigned on engagements and help with any other duties necessary to complete an audit engagement.
  • Prepare audit reports, audit work-papers.
  • Perform small attest engagements under direct supervision of owner and/or more experienced staff.
  • Maintain excellent interpersonal communication skills with clients, owner & peers.
  • Maintain effective oral & written communication skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned from time to time by the senior accountants, engagement managers, or owner.

Working Conditions

  • Involves work in the firm’s office, remotely, the client’s premises or a combination thereof. Work on the client’s premises may require the use of the staff member’s personal car.
  • There will be overtime required to meet client deadlines.

Required Experience

  • Staff accountants normally have one to three years experience in public accounting.

Required Education

  • Staff accountants must have at least a college undergraduate degree and completed 150 hours or be working on eligibility to sit for the CPA exam.

Expectations

Staff accountant should be able to complete basic audit procedures on the audit (including cash, receivable, payables, fixed assets, notes and profit and loss flux) and proactively ask questions, seek to gain increased knowledge and increased level of responsibility with each engagement.

Staff accountant is required to maintain confirmation control forms and responses for confirmations, including electronic and paper.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
