Billing/Collections Manager

Position Summary
The Billing/Collections Manager is responsible for managing accounts receivable. He/She is responsible for all patient billing and collections (Medicare, Commercial, and Private Pay). This employee reports to the Controller/ CFO.

Qualifications

  • Candidate must be a graduate from a recognized college / university with a baccalaureate in business administration, or accounting. Experience may be substituted for education.
  • Candidate must possess the tact necessary to deal effectively with insurance representatives, vendors, and employees.
  • Candidate must be able to motivate the employees within his / her environment.
  • Candidate possesses the ability to think clearly and make sound decisions regarding the initiation and billing of finance policy.
  • Candidate possesses the knowledge of modern office equipment, systems, and procedures.
  • Candidate must have a strong bookkeeping background.
  • Candidate must be computer literate (Excel, Word, etc).
  • Candidate has the ability to type at a minimum of 60 words per minute and/or 10 key.
  • Candidate must possess exceptional telephone etiquette.
  • Candidate must be punctual.
  • Candidate must have the ability to retain confidential information.
  • Candidate must have at least 5 years Medicare and Medical Insurance Billing / Collections experience.
  • Candidate must be knowledgeable about patient accounting / billing software systems.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Opens and closes all posting of daily deposits, account audits, balancing of accounts, daily and monthly reconciliation of accounts, and verification of all insurance interactions.
  • Responsible for the verification of patient insurance eligibility on incoming referrals and documentation of findings in company's database.
  • Reviews remittance notices for proper reimbursement determination.
  • Process patient refunds when overpayments occur.
  • Retention of all mandatory and functional records and files. Records must be maintained in accordance with standard business practices.
  • Oversees the billing process to ensure that support systems are in place to facilitate correct billing. They must also ensure that billing data and accounts receivable data is correct and accurate, and that this data is integrated into the accounting data in a timely manner.
  • Supervision of subordinate performance and productivity in billing revenues.
  • Develops collection goals and takes responsibility for achieving those goals.
  • Weekly department employee staff meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Finance Manager/ CFO.
  • Review and Revise Department Policy and Procedures continuously and / or as needed.
  • Review and Audit patient’s accounts monthly and annually.
  • Maintain all billing, coding, and insurance contracting continuously and / or as needed.
  • Must maintain at least two continuing educational courses annually (seminars, Medicare, Medicaid, Accounting or Coding).

Job Relations

  • Receives direct supervision from the Finance Manager/ CFO/ CEO.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $50,000.00 per year
