ABOUT THE ROLE

The Portfolio Analyst is responsible for the administration of investment strategies for clients of Westwood Wealth Management – Houston, as well as management of Westwood’s Select strategy across all Wealth Management accounts. This position works closely with relationship officers and the investment research teams throughout Westwood to determine suitable investments for prospective and existing clients and manages the execution of approved investment plans.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • Implement investment strategies for clients based on the framework agreed upon by the client and/or trust officer (e.g. managing around outside exposures, investing gradually on a predetermined timetable)
  • Review and manage individual client portfolios to ensure they meet Westwood’s asset allocation and risk guidelines, as well as each client’s liquidity needs
  • Monitor investment performance and make recommendations to adjust client investment strategies as needed
  • Prepare trade programs based on guidance from the Select Equity Portfolio Managers
  • Create trade recommendations based on guidance from Houston Trust Officers (for accounts not in Select Equity)
  • Communicate with the trade desk to ensure proper execution of block trades
  • Effectively communicate investment strategies to the relationship officers and clients. This requires staying abreast of macroeconomic trends, industry data, and company specific news
  • Other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Minimum Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Progress towards CFA charter preferred

Minimum Specific Experience Required:

  • 3+ years of experience in investment management preferred. Education in lieu of experience considered on a case-by-case basis

  • Superior interpersonal, organizational and client service skills with a proven ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Advanced MS Excel; Comfortable creating and analyzing large amounts of data
  • Advanced knowledge of investment and portfolio management theory, accounting and financial principles, associated investment strategies and instruments, and characteristics of various marketplaces
  • Advanced knowledge of investment terminology, the laws and regulations governing trust investments and taxation
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a small team environment
