Mission of the Position

The Mechatronics Systems Engineer is responsible for the detailed design of new customer and/or internal product developments, following the defined product concept. The Engineer works closely with Quality, Purchasing, Software Engineering, Power Electronics Engineering, eMotor Engineering, Project Management, Program Management, OEM Engineering, and the internal cross functional engineering team. The Engineer will be responsible for establishing the Mechatronic system requirements and mechatronic architectural design together will all stakeholders to establish the requirements for the software and electronic components of eBeam and 3-in-1 systems. The engineer will be responsible for ensuring overall mechatronic system integration and release through coordinating efforts across the power electronic, eMotor, software, and validation teams for the eBeam and/or other eDrive products. 

As an Intermediate level engineer, the engineer will work independently with limited supervision to evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using knowledge and judgement to make adaptations and modifications.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the design, development, and problem resolution of new and existing eDrive products in parallel with the Mechanical Systems Engineering, and Systems Architect.
  • Cascade of specifications from system to components and delivery of product designs to the specifications.
  • Collaborates with other engineering disciplines to define detailed design, analysis, validation and verification, and overall specification releases.
  • Responsible for on time design release of system, sub-system, and components, for the Inverter, eMotor, and software throughout the product development cycle, including, but not limited to acquisition, serial development, and production support.
  • Tracks design status, reports progress, and escalates issues/delays to project development and project management team.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • 5 to 7 years of diverse experience across product design, test/validation, and/or mechatronic systems integration required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with electric vehicles required.
  • Experience launching a product (see a project through from concept through production).
  • Experience with eDrive systems and/or electrification products preferred. 
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required, Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Electrical Engineering Technology, Software Engineering, or similar. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work effectively with internal and external contacts, with a high degree of diplomacy, judgement, and possesses the ability to effectively influence persons in all types of positions.
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization.
  • High level of analytical ability, understanding of engineering theory, and principles of design.
Work Environment

Office environment; 20% travel required. 


While working in this environment, the employee will be exposed to machinery, moving equipment and material, moderate noise, airborne particles, fumes, and various levels of temperature created by manufacturing processes.
