This Senior Counsel will work within the Regulatory & Risk Division supporting activities of the Policy, Regulatory & Remediation Section. This attorney will provide legal analysis and advice to the Company regarding the fulfillment of Consent Orders and significant regulatory matters involving enterprise risk management, as well as support the routine operations of Wells Fargo Regulatory Relations. Responsibilities include

  • Providing legal advice and counsel with respect to the governance and management of Consent Orders and other significant regulatory matters;
  • Advising Regulatory Relations on matters including supervisory interactions, responses to regulatory correspondence,enhancing the legal engagement model, and appropriate management of Confidential Supervisory Information;
  • Supporting the Company’s efforts to respond to regulatory inquiries and fulfill its commitments in connection with enforcement actions and other significant regulatory matters;
  • Advising on alignment between business activities and regulatory expectations by partnering with other teams within the Legal Department; and
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with other key internal constituencies, including business leaders, risk and compliance executives, as well as relevant external constituencies.


Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a practicing attorney
  • Active State Bar membership



Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to analyze legal and regulatory issues in area of practice and provide effective advice to clients on complex legal matters
  • Extensive experience conducting research and providing counsel and guidance regarding complex legal issues
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work while handling multiple matters
  • Ability to work effectively in a complex environment with a high degree of collaboration
  • Effective in building partnerships, functioning well with project teams, and working for the success of the team



Other Desired Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience advising on prudential bank regulations gained as in house counsel, in private practice and/or regulator.
  • Experience with one or more aspect of risk management, regulatory supervision or enforcement, or consent order execution
  • Strong ability to think independently and provide credible challenge
  • Ability to positively interact with groups at all levels of the organization, including the ability to inspire confidence in senior leaders
