As the company's second line of defense, Corporate Risk — or Independent Risk Management — provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo's risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline's execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk. Corporate Risk roles depend on a variety of skills, including: Data analysis and synthesis, root cause analysis, change management, process management & execution, risk governance, risk strategy, risk identification & assessment, risk prevention, controls & mitigation, risk monitoring, reporting & escalation, risk systems & technology.

The Compliance Officer - Compliance Program Effectiveness role will be expected to contribute to the Compliance Program Effectiveness team in the execution and quality control review of program effectiveness assessments for the Compliance program. Activities will include planning, data gathering, assessment guidance development, quality control guide execution, review and challenge of assessment ratings/rationale, and artifact review for appropriateness and relevance. The Compliance Officer will play a key role in the evolution of these assessments as integrate and streamline our processes. This role may be expected to engage and communicate with senior Compliance leaders, so excellent verbal and written communications will be a routine part of this role.  The Compliance Program Effectiveness team will provide the Chief Compliance Officer a view into the effectiveness of overall Compliance program execution. 



Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in risk management (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management) or 7+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in risk management

  • Ability to quickly learn business operations and processes
  • Ability to quickly and accurately execute tactical deliverables
  • Ability to take initiative, identify opportunities and implement change
  • Process testing experience (Audit, Quality Assurance, or Enterprise Independent Testing).  **This is NOT technology testing (UAT, etc.)**
  • Six Sigma or process experience
  • Understanding of process controls, to include control design and or execution
  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, LiveMeeting and SharePoint) skills
  • Strong, clear and concise written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of Regulatory Risk and Compliance policies and programs
  • Strong attention to detail, including accuracy in grammar and a sharp focus on eliminating errors
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including those related to conflict resolution
